Indiana....

and the above is the problem.

It makes it next to impossible to go forward with policies that will enhance our citizenry when all of the political battle surrounds fighting non sense like that above.
And we do have opposing views on what works best -- doing nothing is not a solution. Invoking 2nd century mysticism is not public policy - because - a good bit of our "we the people" do not subscribe

It goes back to ACA -- which is so far from the health care program I envisioned 6-7 years ago that at that time I would have thought ACA out of hand stupid. But in the day light and the obstacles of mis information and concern with first the bottom line THEN the actual (you know ) care we wind up with this.
The ACA thread has regular updates on how those obstacles of mis information are falling by the way side. I still want a single payer cradle to grave program - like the rest of the civilized world

Suppose there were honest brokers involved in the ACA discussions (abortion, crime, civil rights, Iran (?) on and on and on and on ...) rather than obstructionists or policies designed to accomplish nothing more than tarnish the reputation of POTUS ? Just like above, suppose we as a people were actually talking about societal solutions for abortion or HIV rather than spend all of our political time arguing just over the basic human care involved vs the non sense thrown out to de rail any and all legislation.

What exactly have the GOP done with their control of the legislative branch. They have not helped implement ANY public polic and really haven't done the opposite of saving the taxpayers money. Almost comically, the debt has increased under their watch ----

that we as a society can't come to the basic agreement that if you want to open a business that you must treat all your customers as equal is absurd.

really? we as a society have to really judge and push your beliefs on to them for who they love? oh, you're offended that the man sticks his dick in that mans asshole in their private bedroom? well, you're an adult. get the **** over it or if you really think about it that much, start taking dick yourself or don't open a business at all.

that we use the term "freedom" when what we are really talking about is treating someone else as not as equal as someone else is sickening.

we either have an actual society or we don't. if you want your religion (sure thing bedell, my view on this is a "religion" :rolleyes ) to be part of the gov't, go to the middle east! ISIS loves that type of thinking

That you want the government telling private businesses who they must serve tells me your a statist. I couldn't care less what two adults do in a bedroom. But that doesn't mean I should force someone else to not care. If you have a problem with it, don't give that business your money.

By the above definition the opposite of a Statist would be Societal Chaos. What and how do we regulate how we function as a society ?

Why wouldn't, taken to it's length - we use the same argument to oppose traffic regulation or FDA regulation ??
Airline safety -- seems a slippery slope. (oh god I said it "slippery slope" )

Sure

Your theory of life can't work just like pure communism can't work in real life

"Hey there, public pressure can work on even the Republican governor of Arkansas. Or maybe it's the Walmart pressure that worked. In any case, Gov. Asa Hutchinson announced late Wednesday morning that he will not sign the license-to-discriminate bill passed by his state's legislature. Instead, he called on the legislature to change the bill before sending it back for his signature "

Just noting that using language like that is technically discriminatory.

This forum is open to the public and does not discriminate against gays.

I have not banned zeets, brule, or niners from posting here. If Bill Shanks or Patio wanted to post here I'd tell them I don't agree with their forumstyle but they're welcome to post here.

So you don't have a reasonable response.

Cool

"a reasonable response" differs to whom you ask

i think my response was very reasonable to show that they way you want the world to work is great in theory. just like communism

thus why i said it in the post you quoted.

in your opinion, that isn't reasonable. i'm not sure why but you are entitled to your opinion

What's really important here is Bill Shanks actually thought Heyward was gay, and thus, didn't care for baseball.

Actually a more accurate story for that picture would be a gay baker refusing service to a christian client. I know your opinion sturg, businesses should be able to refuse service to anyone for any reason. But we've seen what happens when that's the law.

And I suspect many would if asked to put "Gay Marriage Is Wrong" on the cake.
