Injury updates for pitchers?

Anything new on Jimenez, Lopez, sale, and SS#2? I certainly don't wanna rush them, but I'd really like to see them pitch some this season to work the kinks out esp JJ and Lopez.

Jimenez is throwing. They're looking to get him back in late August ideally.

Lopez hasn't begun a throwing program to my knowledge and he will essentially need to go through ST again once he is able to throw. That likely puts him well into September before he would be ready. Schwelly isn't even eligible to come off the 60 day IL until August 27th at the earliest. At this point, I would say it's doubtful we see either pitcher back in Atlanta in 2025.

Sale is playing catch, but he also can't come off the IL until mid-August. We'll definitely see him again this year, assuming no set backs in recovery. But I would just as soon shut him down the rest of the season than risk further injury in a lost year.

Sale coming back and getting a more serious injury that causes him to start 2026 on the DL seems inevitable. Why just fuck over one season when they can ruin 2.

Honestly I wouldn't let any of em pitch this year with the way it's been going.
Exactly where I'm at. Shut them all down - give the innings to the Waldrep, Burkhalter, Hayden Harris, Lara group after we deal some bullpen arms in the next 9 days.

Yep. Let Waldrep sink or swim up here

There is no way Sale would accept a season ending IL if he is healthy. Now a competent manager could manage this properly and basically always have a piggie back ready for a Sale start.. Someone ready to go 3 + innings.

I don't agree with you guys at all. If they're healthy, pitch. Maybe put them on strict, low pitch counts, but I don't want 4 key cogs of our 2026 staff with a year off.

agreed.. Twit needs to be stripped of handling the pitching staff with a directive to whoever is in charge that any of those pitchers along with Strider are on a strict 'kid glove' handling.. no back to back days..no chasing complete games.. no pitch count over 90.. no going back out after a 30 min + break from the last pitch thrown...

my only issue, is that I don't think AA is all that smart either, so I don't really trust a guy that continues to let the dumbest guy in the sport have free reign to continue to be the dumbest person in the sport.

Just like in one of Snit’s early years where the team won like 12 of the last 15 games and went from potentially picking 1st or 2nd and going up to 5th
That 2017 draft had Greene and Gore in it.. man they would look good in a Brave's uni... That said they would have drafted Joey Dollartree to save a few pool bucks for Kenny Walmart in the 5th round.

Nah gonna play us right outta the top 10 picks
Yeah... the idea of "tanking" during a season in your contention window seems wild, but I agree. No reason to risk the long-term health of these guys when it's a lost season. However, getting a lottery pick in the middle of your contention window could be a nice asset for the future. WS --> win a ton of games --> "retool" --> ideally win another WS.

I mentioned in another thread but you plop down a few advanced college pitchers or hitters in this core and jeeeeezz
Next years draft is loaded, you get a top 3 pick and get a Skenes and that changes a lot of things going forward.

I mean you likely aren’t getting a Skenes.

But you insert some of these top arms and look out or an OF bat…

Cholowsky is the guy. If we get some lottery luck and get the top pick, I think he's the no brainer #1 pick. But either way, draft people are definitely talking up the 2026 class a lot right now.

man this could turn out as a pivotal year for the team if things break right.. could you imagine getting the top pick, the PPI pick for Baldwin, and a few pieces for some expiring contracts.. all while resetting the tax and having almost 100 million to blow through in the off season..

of course we are Braves fans, so Baldwin will crash, the team will win a few meaningless games to fall out of the lottery and all the returns from trades will go down with injuries.
