Interesting Question

The reason I ask is...

Mainly to spark conversation - several posters (myself included) mentioned a desire to take a look at signing Wieters this winter. IIRC I think most of us agreed that we wouldn't be willing to go more than 4/$40 million MAX for him as a free-agent (if even that high). I'd then offer him something in the 3/$27-$30 million range - something he likely would never take. Dealing for him NOW with the 48 hour window would give you the opportunity to see if he'd tell Borass to kiss his *ss and sign a deal like that to "come home". If he wouldn't, you tell the Os "Sorry - we couldn't get together on the numbers. However, if you REALLY want Wood and want to be a buyer, how about Wood for Chance Sisco, Jomar Reyes, and Pat Connaughton?"

Whet their appetite, then see if they'd be willing to overpay for Wood.

My Wood/Teheran trade would be to the Dodgers for something like Austin Barnes, Schebbler, and Anderson.

Where did this huge Wood for Weiters come from?

I can't even buy in to a 4 year $40 deal when his best seasons are likely occurring before the Braves are really ready to compete and when they should REALLY be good 2018, 2019 he will be a drag on the team.

I guess I see 2016 as another rebuilding year, 2017 as the beginning of a time of being good and 2018 and beyond being the times where Braves fans should EXPECT to win, not just hope to win.

With that in mind, I don't do any FA deals that are more about today than they are about 2017 and beyond.

It would take a lot to overpay for Wood IMO ...

If we were open to trading Wood he's upped his stock tonight. There should be a decent amount of scouts on hand since Gausman is said to be available.
