Angel Rojas, ss, Dominican Republic

I doubt we hear much until closer to July, and doubt we recognize any names that we sign. These kids could be gems, but it'll be a complete surprise.

Are there any players we have been connected to? I usually hear about a few...I have not heard anything this year. I realize we have a $300,000 cap, but we still have a big pool of money.

We won't know anything until 2020, when suddenly one of them becomes one of the top prospects in baseball.

I wonder how they will spend $4.75M with a limit of $300k per player.

Would be cool to see them somehow swing a deal exchanging international pool money for a comp pick in the upcoming draft. Something like $2.5M in international money for a Supp1 pick, and/or $1M in international money for a Supp2 pick. International money can't officially be traded until July 2, so they would have to work out a bit of a creative deal to swing a trade like this.

That would be awesome. But I also don't mind seeing us just get a crap ton of guys in that $100K-300K range.

That's creative, but I wonder how valuable slots (pool money) are going be in the new system?

I don't think anybody really knows how this new system is going to play out, I imagine we should be able to deal some of our slot money away, but I doubt its going to bring back anything very big. We aren't the only team that's in the penalty either, so the market might be a little bit saturated with sellers.

Yeah, likely no team is going to be willing to give up a draft pick in the top 40 so they can sign another 16-year-old kid.

I would think more now than before. If every team is sitting at 5 million in pool money and your team can get 3 more million then you should be able to command the big prize. By offering 6 million

Pretty impressive how the Padres are signing so many players under the same penalty we are. They even signed the son of one of our scouts for $300k.

So far....

Atlanta Braves
Asmin Bautista, of, Dominican Republic
Ramon Taveras, ss, Dominican Republic
Oscar Nunez, rhp, Dominican Republic

Nice, thanks for the update. Since we are capped at $300k per signing, I doubt we hear about many of the guys we actually signed. Last year we only really heard about signing 13 or so guys if I remember correctly (7 big bonus signings and six smaller contract mentions) but according to Baseball America's 2016 International review, we ended up signing 33 total players in the period.

We didn't hear much about Acuna but he's been one of our best signings!

Signing #4: Geraldo santana OF de la academia de MVP firma con ATLANTA BRAVES en el día de hoy. #JDBsign2017… instagram.com/p/BWDZN4UFSss/

I am shocked that we have not traded any slot money to this point....

Baseball America sez:

Atlanta Braves
Asmin Bautista, of, Dominican Republic, $300,000.
Ramon Taveras, ss, Dominican Republic
Oscar Nunez, rhp, Dominican Republic, $185,000.
Geraldo Santana, of, Dominican Republic
Estarling Rodriguez, rhp, Dominican Republic

Jesse Sanchez says the braves signed 25 players and many of those were at the 300k threshold.

Someone in the Dominican Republic is going to be a star. So we'll just sign them all.
