International News, Rumor and Signing Thread

Passan on the five players who had their contracts voided: "They are free to sign with any team starting Saturday, the start of the new international signing period, and the first $300,000 of their bonuses will not count against teams’ bonus-pool limits. The players, according to the source, will keep their original signing bonuses from Boston."

Also important to keep in mind that BA's No. 31 prospect in this current international class was also expected to sign with Boston.

Roger Goodell is now the Commissioner of MLB and the NFL?

Wonder if that will impact Boston's willingness to deal away other prospects now that they've just been gut-punched like this (ie. Teheran for ???).

Shanks gets a lot of hate on here, but he does have some inside info sometimes - also gets pretty good interviews that most other sites don't.

I've never understood why people dislike him so much.

Well, I personally have my doubts that he even likes baseball. So that's part of the reason I'm not a fan.

seems more like a blogger to me.. I am sure he has connections.. just don't trust him all the time.

Law just said in his chat we are getting Maitan.

Also said we have a chance to be an "absolute powerhouse" in 3 years. If we use our assets the right way.

Neither do I, but it seems like some people really hate the guy -- I occasionally go over there because he has interviews with prospect guys that are pretty informative.

Keith Law in his chat:

A few months ago, maybe a year, the Nats made Maitan an offer that he (may have) accepted, after which Atlanta (reportedly) upper their offer and recaptured him. I heard the Nats were still trying to get Maitan to accept a $7 million offer - and there is actually nothing preventing any of these players from breaking an agreement with a team prior to the deadline because THESE DEALS ARE ALL ILLEGAL. The whole system is totally, royally ****ed up.
