Is Free Speech Under Attack in this Country?

But Cheney isn't someone who lied and then sold out her voters. She's not a democrat who acted like a Republican to get elected. She's been in that seat since 2017. She served in the Bush administration and her dad is Dick Cheney. Just because she presents a different viewpoint than the hard right isn't a reason for the party to punish her.

If she's not doing her job of representing her district then then appropriate action is to let her face her voters.

If she had gone along with the far right on Trump, would she be getting censured or stripped of roles right now? No. The impetus for this is her opposition of Trump. The far right is mad at her and they want her punished.

The Republican party probably represents only about 30% of the people that vote Republican these days. However that 30% represent about 60% of people who show up for primaries. The same is true of Democrats. That fact has pulled both parties to the extremes. This is why I think the parties should fracture. Cheney has about as much in common with the far right as she does with the far left.

When yo say far right I’m confused. Are you saying the new policy positions that are held by an overwhelming majority of the party is the radical side?

What does cheaney have in common with the majority of her party taking trump aside. The days of tax cuts for corporations and forever wars are long gone.

And as far as I can tell, what's being called the far right wing of the party has mostly the same social stances the party has had for decades (with a push for prison sentencing reform thrown in,) and the economic policy of the 80s and 90s Democrats. It's essentially the Blue Dogs of 30 years ago, who were acknowledged as the most moderate of moderates.

It’s a term that is being applied by even reasonable people (striker) because the media is effective. Saying the populist portion of the Republican Party, which is basically 90-95% of the party, is radical is not only wrong but it shows a complete lack of understanding what the platform is now.

It could not be more moderate from a traditional sense. Left and right wing economic policies mixed. Right wing social policies with a small portion of traditional left wing ideas and not the bastardization of science which is the current left wing. And a mix of plenty more.

Good to see very poorly chosen one continuing to make good use of various platforms to exercise his rights to free speech!

I don’t think he wants to be. The next three years will be about selling desantis to the low propensity voters that only come out for trump.

It would be better if he fades away. Anyone else who is a potential GOP nominee would be a vast improvement.

As long as the policy positions are adopted by the new GOP candidate then it’s all good. If there isn’t someone who represents their voters then trump is the right choice.

She is there to represent her constituency and not to express her own moral judgements.

Actually, that isn’t what her jobs is

But you don’t understand the 2nd amendment etc either

So, it makes sense you misunderstand that too

Your representative owes you, not his industry only, but his judgment; and he betrays instead of serving you if he sacrifices it to your opinion.

A society that doesn't value free speech doesn't have it.

Reading the Bible in public is hate speech in the UK

The useful idiots cheer them on, as they watch cops dragging people away on a daily basis as if they are on the good side

Useful idiots cheer. Arrest the dangerous inciters!!!!

Don't yall worry... this will be blissfully ignored by the useful idiots... you know, the people who cried endlessly about imaginary fascism for four years.

They have full support for this though.

If they didn't, you'd hear about it in these threads.

But ya know...
