That’s indicative of the problems leading to the division and violence, though. It wasn’t all that long ago that government officials in important roles would urge unity, compassion and restraint in the wake of these events. But we very suddenly don’t live in that world any more. I don’t need the AG or President paying lip service to the crazies demanding unconstitutional remedies. I need them upholding the constitution and reminding the angry masses why it’s so important.

Likewise, I don’t need the left excusing the response to Kirk’s death, I need them urging people to tap into their humanity and empathy so that it doesn’t happen again.

This is also not a new feature of the Trump Administration, and it’s why people like Sortor here are so important to their approach. “Respected” news sources are sued by the President for their “lies” under the guise that this form of media must be held to a higher level of scrutiny, but they use their grifter network to reach the audiences that traditional news organizations used to. Those grifters are shielded by the defense of just being opinion merchants rather than journalists. So the left “has” this biased media reporting “lies” while the right has citizens using their freedom of speech to share their talking points. I’m not sure what the fix is, but it’s a problem very akin to the fact checkers and social media censors we discussed for the past 5 years.

Example #455336 why the worst position to be in for a MAGA person is in a position of power because these people have insane demands so when they dont get it they blame that person. Unless its Trump.

These settlements need to be investigated later because they just amounted to bribes. Not in the money sense but in giving him a "win" he can use for propaganda purposes. I want to see the internal messages from their lawyers because I highly doubt it says we better settle or we will lose. I bet it says we will win but maybe its better and cheaper to just pay some money to a charity we can deduct from our taxes because even when he lises he will still use his office to target us. They need to ask how can a President sue in his personal capacity but be immune from lawsuits. Thus any suits he personally brings should be pushed to 2029.
