I saw today Kimmel averaged 149k viewers in the Target demo. There’s zero chance he was getting his contract renewed next year. Instead of going out with a whimper, this stupid controversy has turned him into a martyr. A painfully boring hack turned martyr.

The nightmare precedent has been set. We now live in an environment where President AOC can declare a national emergency, enact tariffs on big tech, and give exceptions to companies that deplatform “hate speech”. The right’s push back to all of this will be hollow because they cheer led when Trump did it.

Yup, Trump and his FCC did Kimmel and the left a huge favor by weighing in the way they did. Disney was on the road to removing Kinmel due to advertising pressure, and his insistence on doubling down on his stupidity, without any unnecessary government coercion. Turns out the market works. Unfortunately the morons on team MAGA Do Something can’t help but embolden the other side.

I mean reality is that Late Night TV and general TV viewshit in the important demo are dying. And if you need to know how that's happening look at streaming information.

Youtube is globally streamed a billion hours every day, Netflix has taken that market from braodcast and cable.

Could go on.

Reality is that network TV fucked itself in the dawn of the internet. Once it was clear that the market was changing which was at least 5 years ago if not longer. All Network TV should have been offered for free to stream. It would drastically increase their ad revenue, drastically increase their base, and so on so forth. So many more people would legally watch fox, etc. if they didn't have to pay for it and could access it easily. Imagine a fox app, where they work with their affiliates to make money.

Conan has gone on to have a very successful run after his late night shows ended. His podcast is great and performs well. His HBO show was successful. Same could be said for Letterman and even Leno to an extent with his car show.

Colbert and Kimmel will never have this type of relevance

If you read it one way you get an inaccuracy, he's saying the kid if MAGA, if you read it another way it's totally true, MAGA spent it's time instead of mourning Kirk, accusing this kid of every ideology other than conservative. Especially considering what he said after the attack on instagram. I don't think Kimmel was saying he was MAGA any more than I think that Fox News guy said he wanted to kill all homeless people. Context matters.


I'm really tired of the fucking Pearl clutching over a mediocre setup to a joke to make fun of the president for saying the insane things he said when someone asked him how he was doing.

I dunno, Kimmel feels like the kind of dude who could have a successful Podcast. Not Conan level of success which is like in a tier just below the biggest dogs like Rogan, but good success.

COlbert I kind of agree with because most of what he does is acting. I do think he could be a successful actor like his former partner Steve Carrell.
