Is Free Speech Under Attack in this Country?

I'm also more concerned about the society snuffing out open and free debate than I am about government arresting a few protestors. Why? Bc those protesters have rights that will be upheld thanks to our constitution. Government has arrested protesters for decades because government flat out sucks.

However, people getting fired or cancelled or disowned or removed from college simply for the sin of being a republican publicly is not protected by our rights.

I might borrow a phrase... The damage being done to free and open debate is incalculable

btw i have no doubt the antifans are delighted to have the paramilitary federal forces mixing it up with the protesters

antifans, right wing militias, and very poorly chosen one are all united in wanting to see things spiral out of control...they're all in a sense united in having very little interest in seeing society address its problems in a constructive way

I think Mr. David is being generous. These federal forces are there to provoke and escalate. They are actually performing as their leadership would like them to. Mature laidership would be looking to de-escalate the situation in Portland. very poorly chosen one wants red meat to excite his ever shrinking base.
 
If we all agree that we dont feds intervening... and we can all see local police is unwilling to, what do you all suspect is best option to start restoring order and protecting property rights in the area?

the magic word is de-escalate

it takes time, persistence...the bad actors in Portland want an escalation...so they are going to keep damaging property...arrest them where possible but mainly the focus should be on de-escalating the situation

we've seen this movie before...bad actors try to hijack a popular movement...at some point the people who support the popular movement need to go home and distance themselves from the bad actors...but the federal presence has the opposite effect...it is meant to escalate the situation...the antifans and very poorly chosen one want the same thing...neither has anything constructive to offer
