Is Soroka must-see-TV for you yet?

In the golden days, Maddux was must-see-tv every 5th day. An event to watch. Since him, only Horacio and Peak Medlen (second half of 2012 and 2013) can even come close to must-see-tv.

Soroka has reached that level for me recently. The way he attacks the strikezone and you can see him outthink hitters is so good. Glad we appear to have found a TOR with him.

Smoltz as a starter after he came back from his stint as a closer was always MUST SEE TV for me. Loved watching him pitch.

Agreed. That second start against the Mets where he struck out like 15 but loss to Pedro was so good.

Was fun watching him not necessarily overpower guys but problem solve. We were so lucky to have that rotation of Smoltz-Huddy-Ramirez-Hampton-Thomson for that first 2 months.

lol Horrible Ratios

He’s not there with the Hall of Famers but I definitely am pumped when it’s his day to pitch so I’ll say yes. He looks like the top of the rotation guy we’ve been looking for and he’s very young.

I would still like to find or develop or whatever a true ace. Someone with over powering stuff. Make a very nice one two punch. Then have a fried type as our number three and we are in business.

I’ve come to the conclusion that a true ace is a rare thing. Only like a third of teams have one. That’s someone who consistently is a number one and puts up all star type years. In our division that’s deGrom and Scherzer. Strasburg is close.

Close to must see. I didn't watch tonight as I had Ben Folds tickets. This is mostly a post to say I saw an awesome Ben Folds concert tonight.

Absent great concert tickets, Soroka is must watch TV.

Sucks that Folty has fallen off a cliff after figuring it out last year.

Folty-Soroka-Fried would have been nasty in a short series.

Has been for me since last year. Of course, I rarely miss the early parts of any games so that's not exactly a yuge statement. The only time I miss much is when the offense has been cold and the other SPs put them in a 4 or 5 run hole early since I'm still not a big believer in this pen yet.

124 pitchers have faced 250+ hitters this season. That’s about 4 guys per MLB team.

Soroka ranks 19th in xwOBA at .285. Terms are subjective. He may not be an Ace, and there are arguments for and against using the term TOR for him, but the numbers are exact.

According to the current metric that most accurately measures true talent, Soroka is a Top 20 SP so far in 2019.

I'm guessing Maximus is in the top 10

The thing about aces is that there’s only four in a deck. I think Soroka has that potential. Time will tell if he gets there.
