It Is The Guns

Okay, you might kill 4 soldiers before you get killed instead of 1. There's plenty of people who tried to fight the government with guns. 90% are dead and 10% are behind bars.

Oh that’s not the point

A hand gun fires at the same rate as a rifle

Pull trigger , goes bang unless it’s single action revolver

I find it hard to believe a handgun and AR 15 are firing bullets at the same rate. I am not a gun guy but I do support the right to have a gun. I just don't see what realistic purpose there is to own something like an AR 15.

AR 15's are better than a handgun for home defense.

If you really want to be safe you need both. Or even better several of both.

It better for home offense. An AR 15 is not a defensive weapon. I won't say there's no situation it has ever been needed but 99.999999% of home invasions you fire a few handgun rounds the invader backs off. In a situation of a car jacking I think a handgun would be easier to use to defend.

Self defense =/= home defense. A car jacking or potential mugging where the perp is right on you then a handgun is obviously the best choice. You literally just aim at them and pull the trigger.

Home intruder would be different and a rifle is way easier to handle and shoot than a handgun in likely what is to be a stressful situation. A .556 (ar15) bullet will penetrate walls less easily than a 9mm due to how the bullet fragments when it makes contact. Get over how "offensive" it looks. It's an all-around better weapon for defending yourself.

Like using the weapon offensively. You can defend yourself pretty well with a handgun. Now if you are going to persue the person and try and get them while they are fleeing then yeah an AR is going to work much better. Nothing is absolute but if you start firing with a handgun the robbers aint sticking around. Personally I will take the risk that I need a machine gun and dont have one to fend off a Crip SWAT team attacking my house if it can keep kids killed in a school shooting in the single digits. Like I have said, I am s trong believer in the right to own a gun, but I dont think 1 in a billion odds type situations are a legitimate reason to own a gun like an AR-15. What do you think the ratio is between kids shot by an AR-15 at school and attackers fended off by an AR -15 where a handgun wouldnt have been enough is? Is there a limit to how many kids need to be shot to death in school by an AR-15 before you would actually support doing something about it? How about if it was your kids?

The only cases I ever hear about where an attacker sticks around after a homeowner starts firing with a handgun are the ones with badges. Yes an AR-15 is going to help you kill the attacker better but thats what I refer to as offense. If the goal is simply to prevent that attack a handgun works just fine. May not kill the person but it will get the job done 99.99999% of the time.

Sorry, I'd rather have a weapon that's easier to handle and less likely to have bullets going through outside walls. I'm honestly not concerned with an intruder's life that may be trying to take mine.

I'm not gonna try and prevent an attack just so the guy can plan better and come back more prepared. You took your life in your own hands breaking into my house. Period.

GTFO with that nonsense.

As it says in the story, one shot fired and the attackers ran away. Could she not have fired a single bullet from a handgun to do the exact same thing? Maybe you can show me cases of robbers coming back to rob a home after getting shot at but I dont think theres many. And none of this is about saving the lives of the robber, its about slowing down the pace in which a crazy person can murder kids so maybe some can get away, or tackle to shooter when he has to reload, or cops not wetting themselves because the asshole has an AR 15.

Hold up, AR 15 shots less likely to go through an outside wall?
