The criticism is why we don't know the name of the cop.

We've since devolved since goldy said a statue should be made of a cop killing an unarmed woman

I would say the name of the cop should be released in any officer-involved shooting. I haven't heard a good reason why the CP doesn't have that requirement like most police forces do.

I think there is a good and obvious reason for not releasing the cop's name. However, the most important thing imo is that they have and adhere to a consistent policy in this regard. They should simply do what their policy manual calls for. It doesn't have to be the same policy as other police departments. Their function is a little different. As a rough analogy, I would suggest that the DEA might have rules in this regard a little different from other law enforcement. I would not be in favor of the Capitol Police making up new rules on the fly. They should follow their manual.

if it's a longstanding practice then i don't see the issue

the DEA has its rules

so does the FBI and various specialized military units

as long as they stick to procedure i don't see what this issue is

i think one issue with body cams and the CP is they have frequent interactions with members of Congress and those members probably have concerns about their interactions with the CP being weaponized for political purposes
