Explain the trend line in 2008, please. That 12 million shift from 2004 to 2008 is far greater than 2016 to 2020 (+5 million).

You call my conclusions- which, by the way, are purely based in math in this case- dishonest and then you ask me to draw conclusions based on a made-up scenario? Interesting, and fitting.

My scenario actually isolates the outlier which was due to the presence of arguably the most charismatic and ground breaking president in our countries history.

So if we are being honest you are clearly the one who presented a very dishonest conclusion based on real data.

It’s the difference between a hand recount and a full forensic audit. One is low level which you gravitate towards while I think multiple layers above from an analytical perspective. It’s all the time I’ve spent doing analytics for publicly traded companies at a consolidated level and one of the largest professional services firms in the world for the last ten years.

I tried to limit the data to this century, as you can see in my first educational graph. Unfortunately, I had to present additional data to someone who made a silly claim about Obama being an outlier in our country's history, so you'll have to ask him.

I’m not sure what to tell someone who can’t understand how much a countries demographic changes over time as well as how the first black man to win the presidency represents an outlier with voter engagement.

I’ll try to figure something out and help that person see something so obvious.

Yes, demographics change over time and that is why you continue to see the trendline we've been discussing whether you look at the last 20 years, the last 50 years, or the last 10 years.

But we are talking statistics and data here. Since you're caught up on this outlier nonsense, perhaps the Analytical Professional Services Wunderkind can show me how the 2008 margin is a statistical outlier in the data set of margins since 2000?

(If it helps, you can add 1.5 * the IQR to the third quartile to identify outliers. You'll be disappointed.)
