Frasor had a 1.54 ERA with the # Royals before getting released, though he had allowed 39 baserunners in 23 1/3 innings.

Meh.

Honestly, these are the moves we need this year though. Low risk and a chance to pull a Grilli (:/) or JJ type of success.

Interesting. Boston, Texas, Toronto, Minnesota, Seattle were all supposedly interested too.

It would be amazing if the Braves were able get a few good innings out of him and then ship him off for a little piece.

Amazing ERA given that he has walked 15 people in 23.1 innings

Top 75 prospect?

Yeah I'm still upset that we didn't get anything for Grilli and just feel sorry for him in general...**** happens I know, but the timing of that and the freak injury factor just blew my mind

I feel worse for him, which is rare since I always want this team to get the maximum value. But, he seemed like a really good guy, having a solid year, that would of went to a contender. Sucks for all parties!

I agree totally, seemed to have turned his career around and even though he wasn't striking out the side every night out like most wanted/missed a la Kimbrel he has been equal if not better than Kimbrel this year...sucks because a few teams seemed very interested in a JJ/Grilli package deal, for a solid team that is struggling to finish games those two would have been great...unfortunately at Grilli's age that injury could be a career ender, I hope not however, he seems like a great guy in general and in the clubhouse

The Braves will sign free agent reliever Jason Frasor, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports on Twitter. The Royals recently released the 37-year-old righty, who drew fairly wide interest upon hitting the market.

Frasor worked to a 1.54 ERA in his 23 1/3 innings on the season, and his fastball velocity is even up a shade over last year, but his bottom-line results were not quite supported by the peripherals. He walked 15 batters (against 18 strikeouts) over that span. And ERA estimators were down on his contributions, with SIERA valuing those innings at a decidedly negative 4.71 mark.

Of course, Frasor has had better overall numbers in the not-so-distant past. He was outstanding down the stretch and in the postseason for the Royals last year, and ended the 2014 campaign with a 2.66 ERA and 8.8 K/9 against 3.4 BB/9 to go with a 46.9% groundball rate.

#Braves and free-agent RHP Jason Frasor have agreed to terms on a Major League contract for the remainder of the 2015 season.

I do wonder why he chose us over a contender. Lord knows teams need pen arms. I'm guessing we offered the most in the hopes that we could flip him and possibly even eat the remainder of his salary in doing so?

Duh, The Braves Way.
