It's my opinion. I'm not offering something that is untrue as fact.

I use language "do not strike me as" that is typical when expressing an opinion.

Unlike you I don't get hysterical when governments adopt draconian measures in response to things that threaten public safety. Roads get closed all the time when unsafe. Curfews are imposed around natural disasters. A pandemic is one of those things that requires extraordinary measures. This one has taken over 1 million American lives. It would kill multiple millions in China is they do nothing about it. I don't envy any government having to make these decisions. I may disagree with the particulars but recognize that there are difficult choices involved.

Albert Camus wrote a very good novel, "The Plague," that I read many years ago. I recommend it. It describes the ethical choices that have to be made. It is a mature reflection on some of the same issues we've confronted the past couple years.

I wouldn't use the word oppression for any public health measures. They can be severe or burdensome. Those would be the kinds of words I would use.

Words like oppressive and tyrannical are more appropriate for what is happening to Navalny and others currently being "oppressed" by Vlad the Dim.

But you don't have to believe me. Go to Marriam Webster:

One is a government imposing violence on it's people.

The other is the people protesting the government

Not surprised to see which side you have equated as worse ("almost as bad as...")

You got a hard on for your tyrants and it's been fun to see that exposed since COVID. COVID was a real blessing in one sense as it brought tremendous clarity to who the enemies of freedom are.

Let’s be fair, though. If Biden had said the same thing, it would just be a conservative doing this and commenting on him having dementia. In reality, both Biden and Trump are very old men who have some occasional lapses which are magnified far too much by the other side.

I don’t think either guy has the cognitive horsepower required to be POTUS. Thought the same before the election, but that really upset the equivalency police.
