Jecki Lon Memorial Star Wars Thread

Boy that episode of the Mandalorian was brutal.

Feel like they were cramming a ton of stuff in that episode to set up the finale. Where was all this earlier, we could have explored some of this stuff more. SPent more time on Mandalore with the remnants, etc. this feels like this episode should have been episodes 5-7, not just 7.Would love more info about the Imperials.

I thought it was a pretty good episode

IT was a good episode. it was just a lot. Especially after last episode which was basically all filler. They could have cut the last episode and I think it was episode 3 where they focused on Pershing. THey were both just filler episodes. If I want a filler episode I want a filler episode where Grogu learns to pilot IG11's body. I want a filler episode exploring the surface of Mandalore with it's various threats.

We're seeing the effects of the firing of Gina Carano. Favreau and Filoni had things planned out across multiple shows and then Rangers of the Old Republic gets scuttled. They had to scramble to redistribute story as well as redistribute Carano's role in the Mandalorian. It's a big part of why this season has felt uneven.

All the elements have been there for an awesome season, it's just been choppy.

I was excited to see Captain Pellaeon in this week's episode. I wonder if we'll see Eli Vanto or any of the Chiss Acendency in Ahsoka

A common theory on why this season has been subpar is because Feloni was shooting Ashoka at that same time. So favareu didn’t have anyone chiming in with opinions like feloni does to the scripts

I don't think Carano was going to be involved in the season much aside from like coming along at the end.

But there certainly was the issue of forcing Rangers of the New Republic forcing it's way into the current season of Mando.

Basically all of episode 3 was a Rangers of the New Republic episode.

I think the finale did well closing out the season. Especially because it frees up Din to be what he was in season 1. Gun for hire

I loved the finale. It tied so many of the elements from the season together. And Baby Yoda is the next Mandalore. He will ride the Mythasaur.

Theory: The Moff Gideon that died was a clone. The shuttle carrying Moff Gideon had beskar residue in it. The only imperial shown wearing beskar was the Moff Gideon that died. So clone Moff could have rescued real Moff.

To add to this, you saw cloning equipment on Navaro so an early, non-force sensitive Moff Gideon could have existed.

All the troopers on Mandalore were wearing Beskar. He has a whole battalion of people wearing Beskar.

Though I do think you could be tight that this moff gideon was a clone and the real moff giddeon is dead and was killed by mandalorians..

I didn't take his army of storm troopers as having beskar. You didn't hear the ring when their armor took shots and, IIRC, Bo Katan stabs one straight through with the Darksaber and that wouldn't pierce beskar. I took their armor to be stormtrooper armor with Mandalorian tech.

No they took bolts to the beskar. I don't remember the exact scenario of bo stabbing through. I may have to watch the combat.

But the reason the mandalorians do things like attack the troopers at the neck, etc. I also assume Giddeon wasn't using pure Beskar but an alloy to make it super tough but not impossible. But watch the fight, multiple times you see the ST take a shot off the breast plate and wince and get bounced back, then keep fighting. It's also why Paz Vizla didn't just mow them down with his mini gun that's very high powered.

I rewatched the combat and Bo Katan definitely stabs one stormtrooper through the back and out through the center of the chest plate.

I think these troopers armor might be tougher than ordinary stormtrooper armor but it doesn't seem to be beskar. The dark troopers had nearly impenetrable armor without any beskar so tougher armor for Moff Gideon's elite soldiers makes sense.

Well the dark troopers were androids so other aspects of damage, and encumbrance wasn't a thing.

True, but they do show that there are materials that would provide far more protection than ordinary stormtrooper armor that Moff Gideon had access to. The troopers from the base on Mandalore weren't nearly as indestructible as the dark troopers but their armor was clearly better than stormtrooper armor.

I don't think they had beskar. I think it was much better armor than stormtrooper armor but not beskar level.

I mean we'll find out. My personal assumption is Gideon when he was working on perfecting forging beskar he first made the storm trooper ones to figure out how to make "disposable" level beskar alloy.

I would liken it to the Tie Defenders. The reason the empire didn't better outfit storm troopers was they saw them as disposable. Similar to tie fighters, they weren't tough because they didn't care if they lost pilots. It was part of why the empire was incompetent.

I'm in the middle of rewatching Clone Wars. ****ing A does Clone Cadets followed right by Arc Troopers punch you in the ****ing gut. when you watch 99 do everything then die, ****ing A that's some good star wars ****.
