Jecki Lon Memorial Star Wars Thread

1. Probably not. I mean you have to assume Yoda and Luke are top 2 in some order. Then you're battlign with the likes of Plo Koon, Mace Windu, Obi Wan Kenobi, Shaak Ti, Quinlan Vos, and Kit Fisto. And that's just going with Canon and people we know from films and TV. FOr me my top 5 in the films/TV go. 1. Yoda 2. Luke 3. Obi Wan 4. Mace Windu 5. Qui Gon

Though Quinlan Vos is really badass.

2. Big time nope. Obi Wan was a great Jedi and dualist. But if Yoda couldn't beat Sidious, then Obi Wan couldn't. Still really disappointed that Yoda and Palpatine had a lightsaber battle. Wish instead they got into an epic force battle with new force abilities we've never seen. Oh well.

Qui-Gon is the first force user to achieve immortality.

Excerpt from Revenge of the Sith novelization.
["Too old, I was," Yoda said. "Too rigid. Too arrogant to see that the old way is not the only way. These Jedi, I trained to become the Jedi who had trained me, long centuries ago--but those ancient Jedi, of a different time they were. Changed, has the galaxy. Changed, the Order did not--because let it change, I did not."Slowly, Yoda nodded. "A very great Jedi Master you have become, Qui-Gon Jinn. A very great Jedi Master you always were, but too blind I was to see it." He rose, and folded his hands before him, and inclined his head in the Jedi bow of respect. The bow of the student, in the presence of the Master.
"Your apprentice, I gratefully become."]

2. We'll never know if Obi-Wan would have beaten Sidious. I choose to think yes because 1) Windu claimed he's the best duelist in the universe and 2) He beat Peak Vader whom was stronger than Sidious.

1. He was not. He learned the "trick" to becoming one with the force from Force Priestesses who existed in the same way. Obviously it was important that he learned it though.

2. I would argue Vader never hit peak. His peak darkside was likely the years immediately after the Empire took over when he was hunting Jedi. He was certainly very powerful when he fought Obi Wan but he was virtually untrained in the dark side. I think peak vader would have been if he didn't fall to Obi Wan and retained his Anakin fform with bettet dark side training. That Vader could have bested Sidious. Realize that Clone Wars era Sidious fought and defeated Darth Maul and Savage Opress, Kenobi struggled to best Opress.

OK I also wanted to delve into this a bit. But have been working/busy

The very important thing to the Vader/Obi Wan fight was that they were actually equals. The battle was decided by Obi Wan having the higher ground. Why is that important? Why is higher ground imporant when a force user can jump extra high? Because Obi Wan was on the lower ground when he defeated maul. He attempted something that shouldn't have worked even a littlebit and did. As the person who pulled off the move he obviously communicated it with others probably told anakin about it in detail. That's why he said "Don't try it" or whatever that exact phrase was right before he leaped. He knew what Anakin was going to do and Anakin was so arrogant that he did it thinking he could either "outsmart" or outmaneuver Obi Wan.

It is a prequel. I don't know why Star Wars keeps saying it's a spinoff.

Well it's not about the Skywalker Saga. That is reserved for the Episodes. So technically it is a spinoff from that but it's still a prequel imo since it directly ties in to A New Hope. Now the Han Solo movie will be a true spinoff.
