John Hart Turns Down GM Job

The Dayton 3 step system to success.

1. Aquire ****ty team

2. Add more ****ty players to an already ****ty team

3. Go to world series.

Actually, Dayton's method is to invest in the farm system and build it into a strong unit. That is what he has done, and that has fueled this run to the world series. This isn't luck

Apparently Chipper declined the hitting coach job. That just sucks.

I can't believe anyone, including Schuerholz, thought he might take it. I actually believe it was more of a token gesture to avoid second-guessers when they end up hiring someone no one wanted or expected. I am holding out for Brett Butler.

Really? Have you looked at Moore ' s draft history. For 9 years of high draft picks it's downright pathetic. The teams best player, Gordon, was drafted before Moore. Heyward, Freeman, Wod, and Minor were better picks than anyone Moore has ever taken. Moore ' s best draft pick is probably Greg Holland or Wil Myers. The braves have developed 10 times the talent Moore has.

Moore is so awesome that if they won 5 less regular season games he would have been fired.

Might wanna check the stats on that one! How have the prized prospects Hosmer and Moustakas developed?

It's pretty damned bad. His first round picks, have produced a 15.9 rWAR. Not amazing. Coudl be worse of course, But you'd think he'd have one superstar by now.

Care to take a look at where Kansas City's farm system rates now and where it rated when Dayton took over? Kansas City has one of the best farm systems in baseball. Atlanta, not so much any longer. The further we have gotten away from the philosophy that Paul Snyder had, the worse our farm system has gotten. Dayton learned from Paul.

I really don't understand why. Care to elaborate?

Them moving forward and putting the staff together and not letting the new gm make his own choice in the matter

and doing so after saying it was going to be up to the new GM

all they are looking for is a puppet now

To speak to that effect

TO highlight a point

"Anecdotes aside, the general relationship appears to be a weak one. The Spearman rank correlation coefficient between a team’s Baseball America organizational ranking and its rank among MLB teams in winning percentage over the next 10 seasons is just 0.24. However, there are also a lot of other factors at play in a team’s performance beyond just its prospect classes."

Basically, being top prospects over and over doesn't mean much unless you can afford to keep the important ones around and build around them. Maybe the Royals do that, but maybe they don't.

And it's easy to have a top farm system when you're picking super high. Shoot enough bullets in the dark and you may hit a few things.

If not him?

Let me preface this by saying, "I am actually not joking," because that will likely be the first assumption.

How about a smart hitter, who only wanted to be an Atlanta Brave, who is widely respected by players, and who is an excellent communicator?

How about David Justice?
