John Sickels braves rankings.

Peraza if he continues to in prove and becomes the player we all hope why not play him at 3B? We have plenty enough power hitters in our lineup so a contact guy with speed would be more than welcome in this lineup.

Peraza - 3B
La Stella - 2B
Freeman - 1B
J. Upton - LF
Heyward - RF
Gattis - C
Simmons - SS
B.J. Upton - CF

That would be a pretty awesome lineup if Peraza and La Stella both turn out to be the players we hope for.

I'd complain about your lineup construction, but if 3 seasons from now (when Peraza is liekly ready) we have Justin and Jason still I could care less about the order if we keep justin and Jason long term. I think we should bust the bank to keep those 3 together. Sure it means we can't keep Medlen and minor long term but looking at our minors we can afford it. We luck out that Julio shouldn't be a FA til after BJ is gone so we can allocate funds from him to Julio.

But the bottom line is we don't have a lot of hitters in the system right now.

Yeah. It would be nice if one of Cartini, Victor Reyes, Salcedo, Kubitza, Elander or Terdoslavich developed into the kind of player who can hit 20 home runs in the majors.

Why do people insist on making lineups like this, as if every prospect that gets a mention is going to become a MLB regular? Remember when Salcedo was destined to be the next guy to man 3B for the Braves? Yeah...not so much, and he had lightyears more talent than Peraza or La Stella.

If Peraza truly has enough glove to play SS it would be an insane waste of resources to move him to 3B. If he pans out as a MLB quality SS then either he or Simmons is gone.

And I won't even get into how unlikely it will be to have all those guys still on the roster by the time Peraza is ready.

Braves had a ton of c grade prospects and sickels generally considers c grade prospects to be interchangeable. He probably was tired about writing up salcedo

Salcedo is a good but not elite prospect. But the Braves have promoted him through the system as if he were an elite prospect. Low A at age 19, high A at age 20, AA at age 21. Each promotion came in spite of mediocre results the previous year. If they had let him repeat High A his stats would have looked a lot better. I suspect he will repeat AA in 2014 and you will a significant improvement in his numbers (like Bethancourt this year when he repeated AA) and everyone will upgrade their estimation of him. Call it the Hefflinger effect.

Reading through the comments on Sickels's page, it looks like the Braves had Victor Caratini catching in instructional league at the end of the season, and he reportedly made a major impression on them as a catcher. It will be intersting to see if they move forward with him catching. If that is the case, then his value goes up. The word on him is that he has a big time arm as well.
