John Sickels braves top 20

I thought you liked Ben whoever the best

Yes, that is also something fat Ben would have said..after "just getting done with a prospect conference call".

The same fat Ben who claimed many hugely wrong things, like Randy Ventura is a better prospect than Drew Waters.

1) Ian Anderson, RHP, Grade A-: Age 20, first round pick from high school in New York in 2016, posted 2.49 ERA in 119 innings between High-A and Double-A, with 142/49 K/BB, only 87 hits and two homers allowed all year; plus fastball, curveball and change-up have all developed nicely, throws strikes, no deterioration in performance after being promoted; in my opinion he has the best combination of upside and polish of all the Braves pitching prospects; ETA late 2019.

Seems a little soon IMO, but if AA and Company believe Anderson's going to be ready late this year there's a big trade/couple of big trades coming soon.

I'm pretty sure Magic wouldn't even get it done. He would need Magick with a k.

Or he could explore the dark arts. I know a pretty nifty hoodoo ritual that could add about 3-4 mph. Would just need someone to bring me the heart of a wolf, the penis of a possum, and a virgin. Oh, also some hydrocodone and tequilla. Hydrocodone and tequilla is vital for the spell to work.

Oh and a Luther Vandross CD. Can't believe I almost forgot the Luther Vandross CD. Allard should be throwing 94 in no time.

I think the shine on Allard has understandably come off. But I also think many of you are being overly critical as a reaction to his limited time in Atl this year. His stuff admittedly looked mediocre to bad, but let's remember he's also still only 20 years old. I do think there's at least a solid back of the rotation pitcher in there somewhere and that has plenty of value. He's still solidly in my Top 10, but 2019 will be a big year for his development, regardless if he's in the Atlanta organization or not.

Like once. Ever.

I still hold out hope for him, but he needs legit offspeed offerings and another tick or two on the heater. That’s no small ask...

Not that I think allard will ever throw 94 again, but how could you possibly know that was his only time to throw that fast? He hit a couple 92s when I saw him in pearl... mostly 88-91 though

He has slipped out of my Top 10 for sure, but it's tough to argue this point. He'd be first on my list of arms to trade as of today, but given the patience needed for Folty to develop as far as he has and how much may be needed for Newk to become someone we can count on I'm not willing to jump ship on anyone.

There's still time, but if you can upgrade the big club's roster by moving him you do so. Depth is so important these days you simply can't GIVE AWAY anyone who might help in some way.

Allard would be at the top of my list to trade too. Sickels has actually seen him pitch many times and talks to real scouts. He was higher on guys like Medlen and Beachy who were good till they got hurt than anyone.

It was a chat with Kiley, that said exactly that. It was at a showcase in HS, and it exploded his stock. He didn't hit it before, or after to anyone's knowledge.

Sickels also missed on Tommy La Stella, so while he's an intuitive guy that likes "feel" over tools a lot of the time, he isn't perfect.

It's too early to quit on Allard but I think I can safely say the guy that I've read about honestly likely shouldn't be on the 40 man roster at all right now. What's done is done though, and he's just 21, so while I don't feel good about him right now, he has plenty of time to try to make tweaks and adjustments. Maybe he's a BOR starter. But I do think he's likely an AAAA guy.

And they both regularly hit 93-95... Allard has been trending down and down... you're grasping
