Jonny Gomes appreciation thread

Braves1976

It's OVER 5,000!
I wasn't big on signing Jonny Gomes, though I did want him as a bench piece in the past. But I am starting this thread to say I appreciate what he brings to the team. He seemed very quick and ready to fight after Simmons got hit last night. That impressed me and I am just sorry we have a manager that doesn't defend and stand up for his players the same way.

Well done Jonny!

Despite being a light pole in left field, he's second in MLB over the past few years in defensive good plays (per Mark Simon) by LF's (1st was Alex Gordon of course).

He's an extremely limited player but what he can do, he does well.

Clubhouse chemistry and leadership is still underrated.

Instant offense off the bench and good clubhouse presence. I like the guy a lot. If he's deployed right, it's nothing but good.

what does "if he's deployed right" mean. We don't usually have a DH.

He probably means as someone that starts vs lefties (and only a few righties if he's had prior success against them) while also being taken out for defense in his starts as the game dictates it.
