JS up for HOF vote

It's understood that we check in here and scan through posts quickly sometimes, but please don't twist my words around. That wasn't anything close to what was in my post.

The 'whether or not most of you like it' seemed to indicate to me that you thought people on here wouldn't like to hear it...meaning we don't believe it.

It wasn't directly at any one person, certainly not you in particular. Nevertheless, most of the comments have been of a negative nature about Schuerholz.

Now, we're done.

Didn't think it was so controversial that somebody would take exception and demand clarification. Controls are now in place to assure that it won't happen again. :JSIDK:

Arguably all five exec/mgr candidates could/should get in. Of the players, Hershiser, I think.

Got to think JS, "The Boss", and Selig are all shoo-ins.

Can see arguments both for and against all the others, personally think they're all toss-ups.

JS will get in.

He's classic old boys club and I'm certain whomever is on the committee is also a friend of Bobby's and JS and BC seem to go hand in hand...

Piniella might get some love from the old schoolers. Don't see why Davey Johnson gets in.

Baines and Hershisher are interesting picks.

Lou flipped me the bird when I was ragging on him after he botched a ball in the outfield back in the day, so he's got my vote.

I always laugh about Hershiser. The old story about him singing hymns to himself on the mound during the World Series needs to be balanced off by his interview in which he talked about how he routinely scuffed the ball. But hey! That's just old-timey baseball gamesmanship! All that aside, he's kind of like the pitching version of Dale Murphy. A very good player for a decent stretch--dominant for one season--but didn't perform well over his entire career. I think him going in the Hall of Fame would be due to his performance in one World Series. On balance, he doesn't belong in the Hall.

I think you could squint and make a case for anyone on that list. Pinella and Johnson are your quintessential Good Baseball Guys. Lots of wins, lots of high-profile jobs, a title for each one. Steinbrenner is a weird one-off with a lot of positives and a lot of negatives. I suspect he'll get the nod. Hershiser and Baines are close-but-not-quite in my book. JS should go in, Selig will go in.

Interesting is this ballot is going to be stacked yet again.

Bagwell at 71% this past year.
Raines on the ballot for the final time. Maybe he gets the final push needed.

Pudge - Don't know he gets in first ballot.
Manny - Never will get in.
Vlad - Should get in first ballot, but don't think he will. No connections or rumored ties to PEDS like the other two

--

I know the committee voting is separate from the writers, but we look on track to get 3+ HoFers.

Can i get a full list of the ballot?

I know the people of Chop Country want to know who i would put on my ballot

I'm a Pudge fan, even though there are probably PEDs there. The compromise would be to have him Miss for a year or three.
