Julio

Is there any scenario where the staff/FO doesn't see this?

I'm guessing Teheran is saying he's okay, and that keeps buying him some time. I noticed he had a knee brace on yesterday under his uniform. That might be normal for him, but I've never noticed it before.

He hasn't been the same since he took that line drive off the knee. He was pitching like a 1 hit 6 inning shut out before that happened and has imploded since.

From scouting perspective #Braves Teheran struggles while reducing usage of 4 Seam FB and continued Velo drop of ALL off-speed pitches.

Recent #Braves young pitchers Jurrjens, Hanson, Medlen, also all had FB regression and reduced off-speed separation. Definition of Insanity

Fredi ruined another pitcher, ran him into the ground. It was stupid keeping him in that game against the Mets when he hurt his knee at that junction of the game, and it even looks dumber in hindsight. Absolutely mind blowing, I tell ya. The way Julio looks lately I'm not so sure we aren't on the same path that another talented young pitcher here had in JJ? You don't treat your "young" ace of the future and risk his future to get 1 or 2 more outs. DUMB DUMB DUMB.

Freddi needs to be fired instantly.

What needs to happen, is the Teheran skips his next start, rests a bit and someone else comes up to take over a few starts.

It can't be worth than what he's giving us now. If he's hurt, then this helps. If he's not, then it'll give him rest.

If Fredi doesn't do this, he needs to be immediately fired. Seriously.

And who was the GM when all that regression was happening?

Anyway, Teheran's fastball doesn't seem to be there and he was pitching "backwards" all night.

All of his pitch values have been a negative this year but his 4 seam FB is the same as it was last year 91.3 vs 91.1. His 2 seamer he is actually throwing harder this year compared to last (89.3 v 88.5)

His slider is at 78.9 vs 81.3 last year

Curve is at 72.8 vs 73.3 last year

Change-up is at 80.5 vs 81.5 last year

That seems promising. Doesn't necessarily elude to a difference in stuff, but more so just a mental thing.

It appears his stuff is fine, at least in terms of velocity..... but he's just missing his spots and he has doubled his walk and HR rate.....which is obviously not going to work out well.

Both of those things indicate location problems. I wouldn't be surprised if his knee is having problems, since those seem like landing issues and not arm issues.

Look at the clip from the HR (and pitch before). You can very clearly see his knee buckling.

6.0, 1 run

6.0, 3 runs (Hurt in 7th, when they scored all 3 runs - Teheran was allowed to face five batters after injury without an out)

5.0, 5 runs

4.1, 4 runs

5.2, 7 runs

Since getting hit in the knee (counting five batters after knee in 2nd game) = 15 innings, 19 runs.

Anyone who tries to blame it on anything other than an injury needs to think about those numbers.
