Justin Amash

This NSA surveillance will never stop. When caught they will just say "ok, we wont do it again" then just double down on keeping it secret. The only people who go to prison when people expose the government for breaking the law are the whistle blowers. The law is there to keep you in line, not the government. They are above the law. When they commit crimes they call it violating rights. When I violate someones rights they call it a crime and me a criminal. This wont end unless we are willing to get our proverbial torch and pitch fork and shut it down by force.

then be a leader and have an alternative. He has been in Congress how long ?

Right now he is nothing more than another guy that likes the sound of his own voice

He has offered alternatives. Use the 35 billion in foreign aid for domestic aid. We have given hundreds of billions of dollars to countries like Pakistan over the years. If they are really going to be upset that we end it now then we shouldnt be giving it to them in the first place. God forbid they be thankful for that 100 billion we already gave them instead of resenting us for not giving them another 100 billion over the next 10 years.

Justin Amash is proving to be a one step up two steps back kinda guy.

For everything he says that is worthwhile he does or says 2 things that are for lack of a better word, deplorable

I disagree with him heavily on Hurricane Relief, but the dude is certainly staying consistent to his view on government. Unlike the Ted Cruz's (Cruces, I guess?) of the world, I would bet he would walk the walk if Michigan had a similar disaster.

I don't view rigidity a virtue.

There are handfuls of anti war (D) lawmakers he could team up with should he seriously want to redirect military spending

Even with (R) - did I miss the legislation written by Amash and Rand Paul ?

As long as there has been politics / governance the word is compromise. Those who can are successful - those who can't are nothing more than back benchers

......................

At this point in his career he is only a well oiled re election machine

Opposition to relaxing asset-forfeiture limits produced a strange-bedfellows effort by members of the conservative House Freedom Caucus and liberal progressives. Sponsors of the amendment included Reps. Justin Amash (R-Mich.), Mark Sanford (R-S.C.), Raúl Labrador (R-Idaho), Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.), Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) and Don Beyer (D-Va.).

He did it
good for him

Let's hope this guy is a future presidential nominee.

If/when that happens, I'm quite sure he will be the latest nazi from the media

Still this. I wish both sides could unite and torch the NSA datacenters with their employees inside.

I also like Tulsi Gabbard quite a bit. Her and Amash are just about the only two individuals in Washington I like at the moment.

this is a sound take

and as we move forward in dealing with the mob, i hope we will make some distinctions...not all of them are terrorists or insurrectionists...some were more or less tourists in the wrong place...a slap on this wrist for those...more severe punishment for those who led the way in breaching the Capitol or acted violently or damaged property
