Because the Red Sox have always been known to overhype their prospects, so they can trade them.

Outside of Bogarts, Betts, Bradley just recently it's been a while since they've produced homegrown talent.

I'd say the Marlins were probably pretty happy they traded for Hanley, Anibal Sanchez, and the CUbs Anthony RIzzo. Tigers are probably happy with Igelsias. Padres are probably pretty happy with their return on Kimbrel so far.

Pedroia, Moss, Ellsbury, Lester, Papelbon, Reddick as well. That's pretty good work for 6-7 year stretch for a farm system.

That's not even remotely true.
 
Boston has better players coming soon.

And their system minus Groome and the other guy cant remember his name, dont have much pitching wise.

Braves have a much worse hitting system obviously, but pitching wise 2-3 years from now could be insane.

That's not what is happening. There is a long distance between believing Peterson might be an mlb starter and declaring him the needed impact bat.

You do recall that Justice was stalled at AAA for three years? One can only imagine what a younger, more energetic version of you would have posted, had there been civilan internet access from 1988-1990.

Actually, so are his Major League stat sheets. In 16 seasons in the Bigs, Millwood had 11 seasons with an ERA of over 4.

All these pitchers are overrated. A bunch of fringe bottom of the rotation or setup guys. Should have sold high on guys like Wisler, Blair, and Jenkins. Instead we rush them and expose them for the frauds that they are. Up next: Minter, Newcomb, Fried. There's no Smoltz or Glavine or Avery in this group. They'll be lucky to carve out a career like Buddy Carlyle.

Give me a system with a few generational talents who are studs with a bunch of scrubs instead of a bunch of AAA fringe MLB filler material.

Sorry, but Smoltz and Glavine, along with Maddux, were once in a lifetime. And they still only won once. A winning team has great chemistry. The Braves are trying to acquire that. I am disappointed with the accumulation of so many pitchers, but teams are loathe to give up power hitting talent.

Thing about Glavine is that my recollection is that there certainly weren't Cy Young or even All Star level performance, expected of him, when coming up. Smoltz was well regarded for his fastball and slider, but he just needed the mental adjustments. Similar situation though, there really weren't astronomical expectations placed upon him when he was in the minors. OTOH, Avery rose through the ranks with a lot of hype.

Most everybody knows about Glavine's hockey background, but check out the 1984 draft selections by the L.A. Kings.

Glavine was the 4th round selection, 5 rounds ahead of Luc Robataille! He could have played with Gretzky.
