Keith Law's Midseason Top 50 Update

MLB pipeline isn't updated. That list will look quite a bit different if/when they do a mid season update.

I know they mentioned Acuna would be a huge riser for them (duh).

Wonder if Wentz climbs into the back-end of the their top-100, really no reason for him not to, he has both the draft pedigree and the early success of other top pitchers. Obviously Fried fell off and Newk is graduating

If they wait till the trade deadline then Newk would be off the list. He's about 2 weeks from losing his prospect status. Wentz has had a good year and should be a back end top 100 guy.

Them moving to #1 after trading Q was a foregone conclusion.

Remember when I said exactly that this offseason and the pozzies threw an epic 20 page tantrum haha?

Hardly a forgone conclusion. We will likely still have more top 100 players and top 50 players. But certainly the gap been narrowed tremendously, and possibly overtaken.

I still think the Braves system is better. Moncada and Kopech haven't exactly torn it up since being dealt to them (Kopech SO numbers are insane, but the guy has 53 walks in 78 IP). Moncada is still striking out quite a bit. Seems their rankings are still mostly based on their ceilings and not so much on their performance.

we know klaw's list doesn't matter to Enscheff but:

Sox have: 5, 13, 17
Braves have: 9, 26, 32, 35, 39, 41, 49

Sox likely have top 100 guys in Robert, Giolito and 1 or 2 of Lopez/Fulmer/Cease.

Braves likely have: Maitan and 1 or 2 of Fried (Klaw will rank him here, I know many of y'all would not), Pache and Wentz.

Sox have more high end guys. I would favor the high end guys.

But it would be easy to see that top 100 guys are won by the Braves 9 to 7.

Top 10 guys tie

Top 25 guys Sox win 3 to 1 (Braves have 26)

Top 50 guys Braves win 7 to 3.

Dougie Jones: Do the White Sox now have the #1 system?

Keith Law: I don’t think I’d put them over Atlanta, which has so much more depth (7 guys on my top 50, and the list keeps on going). But they might be #2. I haven’t done a ton of work on that.

When FG releases their mid-season list I'll go through the exercise of calculating total surplus value of all the prospects for both teams.

Hahahaha. Such a know it all. Two of the more respected analysts say Braves have the better system. But I'll take your word for it.

Ahh, deflection. Predictable.

Then you should be willing to wager a bet. Loser leaves the board forever.

What are the specifics?

Let me guess....more deflection from you.

Looks like the Quintana trade catapulted the Sox over us

Sox system has a ton of boom/bust but i'd still take the Braves system over theirs.

But thats still a hell of a rebuild they've done in a little under a year.

Thats also not updated either.
