I have reason to believe he would welcome an opportunity to play another season close to his family while providing clutchness and veteran leadership, and giving the team a flippable asset. He would also provide insurance due to the concerns created by Adonis Garcia's defense and the possibility he would be unable to extend his previously unfound power. He can also provide insurance against concerns relating to Olive's defensive move to left and against a continuation of Jace Peterson's second half struggles and also against Nick Swisher suffering from additional knee discomfort. All of these things could be accomplished for a reasonable price while preserving the front office's flexibility to travel on two non-parallel tracks simultaneously while it seeks to field a more competitive team in 2016 while building toward a future in its new stadium scheduled to open in 2017.
 
Can't imagine us passing on him, I think he'll look for a multi-year deal, if he doesn't find one and we're interested in him we should be able to get him back.
 
Yeah, I guess that depends on whether Kelly thinks that's a feature or a bug. I'd love to have him back.
 
Always liked Kelly. Like somebody else said, he'd probably be afraid to sign bc he'd be flipped at some point if we weren't competing.
