When's he supposed to return? Really wish we'd try a matt Adams/kemp platoon in LF to finish out season

Hopefully never

He will though, so we have to find a way to get value out of him. He can't hold up every day, but he can hit when healthy... limit his innings. I think matt Adams could help do that. We'll be awful on both corner OF spots this year, but acuna will help with that in rf next season. I just want to see how productive offensively Adams and kemp can be closing out the season.

The answer for Kemp is not to platoon him with Adams, a player who is worse at every aspect of the game than Kemp.

If the Braves are going to use Kemp in LF the answer is to sub for him defensively after his last PA of every game...last PA being defined as any time he isn't guaranteed to bat again that game.

Doing so will cut down at least 10% of the innings he is running around LF at a cost of a handful of PAs. This needs to be done as a proactive measure, rather than waiting until he is already hurt.

What do you think about platooning Kemp and Markakis though?

It makes some sense, but it's unrealistic to expect the Braves to deploy a $33m platoon in LF. More likely we will see Acuna up and down all next season to cover for injuries to Kemp/Markakis, and to play OF in AL parks.

The Kemp acquisition was just so bad it's truly mind boggling that a MLB FO didn't realize how much it would hamstring the organization in the future.

I think they will do that at some point next year after Acuna is called up. It may coincide with a conveniently timed trip to the DL by one of the corner outfield incumbents. It should not be that hard to share playing time between four outfielders, especially when two are righty and two are lefty and two can play center and two have reached a point in their careers where playing everyday is detrimental.

I will be absolutely livid if they play yo-yo with Ronald and the minor leagues.

They have to move one of the two in the offseason. DPete is also a better option and is ready NOW (no matter the Acuna outcome).

Don't see that happening. That's something you do with a developing prospect that you hope isn't in the final analysis a AAAA player. He may come up and then go back down if he struggles mightily, like Swanson, but they are't going to treat him like Lane Adams.

IDK about ready now, but I think he'll prove to be so next year when his power returns, hopefully he can be Kelly Johnson like.
