Keuchel Named Game 1 Starter

Expects Yuge Games
Guess the team is going with the veteran laidership and clutchness here. Flowers has been the main catcher for Keuchel lately, so he could well be in the game 1 lineup.

And we will be facing Miles Mikolas in Game 1.

Braves faced him once this year and won. He pitched 7 innings and gave up 3 ER on 7 hits, striking out 9. Dansby and Freeman homered.

Keuchel will pitch solidly for about 3-4 innings and then BABIP will start happening and all hell will break loose. Cards by 4.

Worried about Flowers defense....the Cardinals are a very good baserunning team that can steal bases....add that to Flowers' past ball tendencies could lead to runs

Honestly dont think the pitching rotation of where they lineup Folty/Soroka/DK is a big deal, it's just gonna come down to if the Braves can hit or not.

After seeing the Braves offense disappear with regularity in the postseasons historically, I have to agree.

Haven’t had this type of offense since 2003 and that team got stuck with Wood/Prior in the NLDS. Cardinals don’t have that same kind of pitching. The Braves are gonna hit this series.

Let's see if facts agree with this assertion. Braves best offenses according to wRC+ since 2003...

2003: 112
2019: 102
2013: 102
2006: 100
2010: 100
2004: 100
2005: 100

While technically the best since 2003 by a small margin, I'd say this offense is about as good as a typical Braves playoff offense.

That 2003 offense was special, unfortunately the pitchers they faced were even more special at that time.

Yeah this Braves offense is good, but not out of the ordinary with our other playoff teams that we've had. I'm really excited about the future of this offense, though. Having Freeman for a few more years and having Ozzie and Acuna long term on VERY cheap contracts give us an unbelievable foundation to build a strong offense on. It'd be even better if we can somehow find another 3-4 win young player or two out of the Riley/Pache/Waters/Shewmake/Langeliers group over the next couple of years.
