This saddens me. As good of a hire this appears on the surface, it can't come close to matching how much I enjoyed reading his prospect reports.
Right, I'm a loyal Fangraphs reader and looked forward to the prospect discussions each week. Pretty cool though
This is an EXCELLENT hire for the Braves organization, although I agree that it is a loss to no longer have the benefit of Kiley's combined scouting and analytical approach to prospect evaluation. Perhaps now instead of saying we are going to flip some veteran we took a flier on for a "top 50 prospect", we can say - with a straight face- we can flip said veteran for a "FV 50 prospect".
Kiley knows every single teams' farm system inside and out and knows both the cream of the crop as well as some of the under the radar types. I know traditional scouts do too but he adds another layer to the analysis. I'd expect the Braves' secondary pieces in trade to substantially improve with Kiley in the fold.

That was my first thought as well. Great hire
He worked for a website and somehow he's qualified to be in a major league front office? Well SAV owns a website so I wonder what he's qualified for?
