Kimbrel/Melvin Trade Thread

Just another night at Caray Manor.

I do wish even more now that we hadn't signed Markakis.

Yea, what was the point? And I don't think we've done the best job of getting good enough prospects back in return for what we've given up

I mean remember a time that Adam Wainwright was worth...... J.D Drew!!!! We've traded away at least 2 guys better than J.D was at the time we acquired him

It wasn't just Kimbrel/Upton for cash. We got a damn nice return, too.

!?!?

I just don't see how anyone could see this as a bad trade!!

Some of the people on here who I thought to be logical and realistic are really dissapointing right now! This is a trade that was obviously a MUST DO and made perfect sense.

Drew put up a year for us that Heyward and Upton might never even touch.

Do you think I don't like it?

There's late inning... And then there's the 9th.... You ever notice how some 7th and 8th inning relievers are so good and then the team tries to make them a closer and they're not as good? Because of the adrenaline of finishing up and trying to lock down a win? Idk, it might work out. RIGHT NOW, just not so sure it doesn't hurt us in the future as much as it helped getting rid of Melvin's money

9th inning is overrated. The game is sometimes saved in the 7th or 8th inning.

I don't have a problem with the trade but do wonder where the hitting in the future is going to come from. I would feel better if more of these trades were netting more high upside bats. The whole "you can never have too much pitching" can be taken too far IMO.

By DFA'ing Quentin, are we still on the hook for his full $8MM 2015 salary?

Depends on whether or not someone claims him. If someone does claim him, the Braves could work out a trade and my guess is that any return for Quentin would be somewhat reliant on how much salary we'd be willing to pay.
