Kyle Wright to Florida

According to Jeff Morris on Twitter who seems to break a lot of news before others.

That's some big news.

Crazy we got this guy at 5

not really, there were generally five agreed upon elite prospects, one of them was going to fall to 5 and Wright happened to be more expensive.

I would have been very happy to get any of Lewis, Green, Gore or McKay at #5.

Picking #6 would have been a kick to gut.

Agreed. If Wright wasn't available, I was on the Beck train... looking like a good deal not to have him now. He's struggling terribly in rookie ball. Another note, Jo Adell is absolutely tearing it up.

Yes he is. It's the same level as the GCL, so I don't know how much it means, but Adell is killing it.

Dennis Lewallyn seems to be the finishing school pitching coach, so this makes sense. They may want him to start in AA next year

Kyle Wright is going to pitch tonight for the fire frogs. I will love to go to the game but i want to watch Albies too damn it.

SEC is probably considered high A level or better depending on the team, right?

I would think the plan is for him to be 1 year in the minors next year and then on the team some time in 2019. He's what, 21? He's probably our oldest top tier pitching prospect. He's been in the SEC. 2019 he's 22 going on 23. He's a pitcher so let's get going before the arm goes.

Heck, if he's half as polished as some of the scouts said he might be in the majors next year. I think he's older than Allard/Soroka/Gohara. Not sure his innings numbers compared to those guys. And not sure if they'll count college as superior to what Allard and Soroka have done.

I do not understand the point of drafting college players in the first round if you aren't prepared to move them quickly past the bottom levels.

I do t have an issue with aggressive promotions withing the minors when the player is handling things.

If he's better than the competition and not struggling what's the point of keeping him down?

Just need to be sure the performance is both stable and not lucky.
