Laird or Bethancourt?

Expects Yuge Games
Two hypothetical questions:

1) Gattis returns, plays well, but has another injury that puts him out for September and October. Who would you have catch most of our September and October games?

2) Who between Laird or Bethancourt would you rather have as our backup catcher in 2015?

Both.

I love how Bethencourt plays. Offensively and defensively
I think Laird is Eddie Perez with a little more pop in his bat.

As much as I like Gattis his days in ATL are numbered

LOL, Gerald Laird doesn't even deserve to be in the same sentence as Eddie Perez. He's more in the mold of Paul Bako and Greg Myers.

Eddie was a phenominal receiver (Laird is arguably the worst I have ever seen in a Braves uniform), called a great game, had a great accurate arm (Laird might have a stronger arm but not as accurate), and had above average power at the plate (Laird has almost none). Probably not much difference with the exception of power hitting wise, but its Eddie Eddie Eddie and not even close.

Eddie was arguably the best backup catcher in the late 90's and it's not even close, he was a perfect compliment in every way to Javy. He could have carved out a nice career as a starter if he was on a lot of other ball clubs, unfortunately his career was cut short due to injuries.

At age 34 Laird has more pop in his bat than Perez. With about the same number of plate appearances
Career numbers are virtually even

Not a nickles worth of difference. I don't get all the vitriol aimed at Laird. He is a veteran back up catcher, no more no less. Not Brian McCann or Buster Posey or that Lucroy guy. Or even Evan Gattis
Besides, we share a birthday

If you are looking to argue who was the best back up catcher per decade, you need to get out more often :)
I thought Eddie Perez did an admitrrable job - as does Laird. They are back up catchers for Pete Sake and I think Laird would be a nice compliment to Bethencourt. In other words, he would be Bethencourts knees every 4th 5th or 6th day

Just like Perez did for Javy
