Law: Braves Have #1 Farm System

How do you figure? They had their 1st winning season in like 20 years in 2013.

Most Royals fans wanted DM fired and most people were expecting/calling for the Royals to sell at the trade deadline 2014. This was like their 10th rebuilding in a row over the last 30 years so there was no reason to expect them to get hot in September and ride it to a world series. Anyone who says our rebuilding is failing is a moron who is probably butt hurt because they took John Hart saying we would be competitive in 2015 literally instead of realizing that no GM is going to tell the fans they plan to suck. We might now make the 2017 goal but there is an obvious light at the end of this tunnel that is very bright. It might be 2018 or 2019 before we see playoff baseball in Cobb County but its going to be worth the wait.

even if this rebuild fails, at least they tried. What was happening two years ago would not work and could not sustain the organization much longer. Even if we extended Jup and Heyward, we still had no pitching to rely on. NONE.. our farm system was headed for last place so we would not be able to rely on that to produce any pitching or trade for any pitching. We would have been completely maxed out on payroll with BJ/CJ/Jup/Heyward/FF/Simmons/Kimbrel/Julio so signing a FA pitcher would have been impossible. We were a product of short sighted goals. we can argue whose fault that is.. but regardless, the organization did what had to be done.

Again, people can argue return value, but I don't see how, because we don't know what we could have gotten or what other teams where even willing to give up..

I remember when everyone on here hated Keith Law, those were the good ol days.

You've found "converts" somewhere???

He's still my least favorite "prospect guru", and it's not particularly close. Seems like it'd be pretty tough to find people blasting him in a thread on a Braves' message board discussing the fact that he ranked the Braves' system #1, no?

He just didn't see the light on like 2 prospects. One of which was Freeman. Braves colored glasses I say!

I don't think he likes Freeman that much now. Freeman is still a 1B w/o 30 hr production. Klaw isn't going to value corner guys unless they are big time. I think he's consistent there. Perfectly fine to disagree.

Klaw has gone from some favorable pre-signing Olivera articles to saying he doesn't think he's a major league regular.
