Legal/scotus thread

If you thought someone was a rapist would you not take some pleasure in ruining their life? And if its such a sin tonsay Kaepernick sacrificed everything I think its a little silly to say Kavanaughs life is ruined. He just got a lifetime appointment to the highest court in the land. No one cares about the Anita Hill **** anymore and they will get over this stuff too. They really have no choice but to do so.

And I am not liberal one bit but everyone crying over whats happenes to Kavanaugh can eat a dick, you all know what happened with Garland wasnt right. Lets not pretend Democrats invented playing politics with a supreme court nomination.

Who is " they " ?

And what is "they"'s agenda ?
Is " the left" part of " they " or does it just include whoever you randomly disagree with on any given day ?

Can I use " they " to aim at Trumpians that unawaredly condone dog whistles of bigotry and misogyny?
Which is I guess the question, do I get to identify " they" s as well ?
What happens when my " they " disagrees with your " they " ?

I agree with you that saying his life was ruined is a bit silly, but doesn't change the sentiment.

Please tell me, what specific evidence convinced you that Kavanaugh is guilty of attempted rape?

The refrain I've been repeating is that there is no moral high ground in all of this. The Dems did nothing that the GOP wouldn't do in their shoes and vice versa. Political tactics transcend party lines.

Agreed, but to equate Garland with Kavanaugh is mindless. One wasn't voted on for political reasons. The other was personally attacked as a sexual predator for political reasons.

You're right, one is far worse than the other. The Dems (rightly or wrongly we'll probably never know for sure) set out to ruin the life/career of one they felt would vote against their interests, on the other the Repubs purposely circumvented what the Constitution said was their duty in order to block the career (and to extent at least lessen his life) of a man even they couldn't (apparently) character assassinate in order to both lessen the Dems vote on the SCOTUS and increase their own votes on the SCOTUS and not for any morally noble reasons, and then bragged about it. Yes both are bad, but as you said one is worse

Awwh, did they ruin Brett's life ?

Cry me a ****ing river

Seeing the same lame ass excusses used 5 years ago by Cosby apologists, Sandusky (Penn State) apologists, The Roman Catholic Church apologists
and Clarence Thomas apologists etcetera etcetera etcetera

Would any of you rather these allegations be swept under the rug ?

and hopefully his parents teach him no means no

and leave drunk or incapacitated women alone

and like I said a week back "simply that one should never be where one does not belong"

Have you ever been accused of --- pursuing unwanted advances - on another ?

Why is that the case ?
........................................

In the state of Florida if one is caught in a vehicle with an open container (alcohol ) whether it belongs to you or not you are equally culpable.
When my son was growing he got caught with others doing teenage mischief. We used it as a teaching oppertunity to make the point -- see how these things can get out of hand real quick

Remember Trayvon Martin ?
Where were and who were Brett Kavanaugh's parents ?
And why are people coming out of the wood work making these accusations against him?

People were as politically opposed to Gorsuch --- if this was only politics - why wasn't this tactic used last winter over his nomination ?

If your moral justification for BK ascension to Supreme Court is (D) played politics ---- you should really be rethinking what is and isnt the moral high ground

"Somewhere in America, a teenage boy is listening to his parents convict Brett Kavanaugh and he is thinking, if I'm ever accused, with no witnesses or evidence, everyone will just assume I'm guilty."

no one convicted BK . Nor did anyone officially charge BK--- they opposed his nomination to judge on the highest bench

Your premise is incorrect and mirrors Trumps PR campaign

Democrats wanted to punish him because he was accused of sexual assault. Not because he was proven to have committed sexual assault, but because he was accused of it. So no, there was no official charge, and there was no conviction. There was only an accusation. So again, "Somewhere in America, a teenage boy is listening to his parents convict Brett Kavanaugh and he is thinking, if I'm ever accused, with no witnesses or evidence, everyone will just assume I'm guilty."

Democrats didnt want him on the Supreme Court because of allegations of sexual impropriety.
Punish ?

Poor guy
