Legal/scotus thread

Would have liked to hear what sturg thinks about this since he kept saying for days he was predicting she would no show Monday. Then says he called it when Ford's counsel asked to move to Thursday and said she would no show and that this was the left again.

Now she's shown up and been up there for a long time.

Having been around legislators for all my working life (and this isn't personal against Grassley because he certainly isn't alone and the transgressions are bipartisan), but once these folks get their butts in a seat, they really believe they can keep doing the job effectively in perpetuity.
 
lindsey graham has gone from seemingly decent to an utter disgrace. he's as repugnant as almost anyone. pretty wild.

Well, we had the pres and cigars and blue dresses, but now that its been so long ago, it almost seems pretty damn funny.

Anyone find it EXTREMELY odd she wanted two front doors installed into her home?
 
Ford did fine all things considered. If anyone on her side came out looking bad it was Feinstein and Katz.

I found it very interesting that Mitchell brought up the Ed Whelan rumors. It makes the rest of the day very interesting when you add that with someone coming forward earlier this week stating he was the one who assaulted her, the fact that Leland denies that she knows Brett Kavanaugh, Mitchell showing Ford the map and the fact that it was Whelan's guy who was the link between Ford and Kavanaugh. Nothing may come out of it, but something to keep an eye on.
 
republicans running with the doppelganger theory is about as thoroughly embarrassing (aka, just republican) as it can get.

You're right that rumor wasn't the right word. It actually wasn't that crazy of a hypothesis because of the coincidences (they looked the same, his house was close, he knew Judge and Ford). But certainly not something that you ever bring up unless confirmed. Just interesting to me that she brought him up in the hearings. Pricked my ears a bit since we know they have a statement from a guy that claims he was the assaulter.

it was an embarrassing suggestion and was debunked pretty quickly. it really doesn't even deserve consideration.

It was only an embarrassing suggestion because he made it public before verifying its truthfulness. I found it to be an interesting hypothesis that warranted looking into behind the scenes. All I'm saying now is that I'm interested to see if something more comes up this afternoon or if Mitchell just randomly threw out it out there.

Ford is positive she's not mistaking anyone's identity. it's bat****. it's grasping at the tiniest of straws.
