After Sotomayor's recent factual error regarding Covid here is a good article about how this is happens quite a bit and nothing is ever done to correct it. One example I know I have talked about for a long time is how drug sniffing dogs are not reliable. Justice Kagan in 2013 said fears of false alerts is not a reality because the dogs are certified by accrediting organizations. Fact is these organizations dont test the dogs to see if they will give false positives. Thats not an accident. Cops dont keep records of how often a drug dog gives false alerts because they could be used against them. Thats just one example given in this article.
