Let the speculation begin

Very generic information. Puig has been claimed on waivers by an unknown team and the likelyhood of a deal is unknown......

How is this possible? I was told by someone on this board that absolutely nobody wanted Puig and he would pass through waivers unclaimed.

Of course, when I offered to make a wager with that person about this topic he went completely silent.

I don't believe he would make it very far down the line. Especially at minimal cost and that he's super young still. Atlanta could take a chance if Kemp let them know he could be worth a look.

Were the Braves first on the list? Haven't they made a claim recently which would drop them on it? I don't remember if waiver claims always go to the worst team first.

I rather have him than Kemp, Kemp already has a -6 DRS with Atlanta in left field. He is like Gattis out there at this rate and he is only going to decline more given his hip issues, etc.

I doubt there's a person alive (including Coppy) that disagree with you, but I doubt any team gets Puig for free. I would have liked to roll the dice on Puig, but in this case the choice isn't between Kemp and Puig, it's Kemp and a handful of prospects we would have to part with or Puig.

If the Braves would have acquired Puig they would have had to explain that Puig was actually the Cuban they thought they were getting when they traded for Olivera. To a bunch of old white southern boys, all those Cubanos look the same.

Do the Braves always get first crack being worst in baseball. Wasn't sure if there was a rule with roe being claimed already??

Yes, they have first shot at anyone in their league. But in the AL the worst team there has first shot and then everyone else in that league before Braves get first shot in NL.

Revisionist history? My only memory is that you were trying to get someone to promise to leave the board forever.
