This does line up with what Spilborghs has been saying (regardless of what the exact numbers are) - it does look like the owners have drawn their line in the sand, saying "this is how much we're willing to spend on salaries no matter what".

Call it a salary cap or whatever you'd like, it's semantics at this point - and I can't blame the owners at all. Dr. Fauci is screaming about not playing in the later fall when they'd have a chance to recoup some of their losses with the expanded playoffs.

I'm about as close to ready as I can get to joining those who say "*uck 'em, I hope they don't play at this point and ALL lose millions".

I've been wanting the DH, long overdue. Hope they agree on something, least it seems they're talking more extensively. Probably need to hammer out a deal by the end of the month at least or early next week more likely.

Even if the owners and players can figure out the financial side, the problem looming over everything is that virus cases are spiking hard in Florida and Arizona, and I don't know how you can safely conduct spring training camps in those states right now.

Blue Jays have now done the same and shut their spring training complex down. Per reports, one of their players, who is on the 40 man roster, has shown symptoms of COVID-19, however, has not tested positive yet. He has spent time with a Phillies player, whose spring training complex is 6 miles away

That story is a bit misleading. The title says they’re thinking about instituting ties, but then the article only mentions them possibly adopting the minor league rule about starting every extra inning with a runner on second and possibly allowing players to re-enter the game in extra innings if they have been substituted out previously.

The MLBPA is voting this weekend on the owners 60 game proposal...expectation is that if they vote against the proposal, Manfred would institute his own schedule (~50 games) and the players would file a grievance. Manfred could also say screw it, and cancel the season all together. Either way, seems like this is finally coming to a resolution.
