Again, these were FORMER intelligence agents, as in not currently working for the FBI or CIA. How are the supposed to know the details from cases after they dont work there anymore?

They all had and have active security clearances. Further, if your contention that they couldn't know was valid, it would sort of defeat the purpose of them saying anything about the matter publicly.
 
I dont think a security clearance means they get actively updated on every case the FBI has. A politically sensitive thing like Hunters laptop was likely not something every FBI member was kept up to date on much less former members. They did specifically point out that they didnt know and had no evidence to say it was Russian disinformation, but like the right always seems to do now, they bastardize it for propaganda purposes and claim a simple accusation or coverage of an accusation is telling people it is 100% accurate. Just like they did with the Russia stuff. No media that I know of was saying Trump was confirmed to be in collusion with Russia yet they portray it was if it was repeated non stop on every news broadcast.

Why the compulsion to say anything at all? Doesn't seem very stoic like which you'd expect fro intelligence officers.

There are two possibilities.
These were uninformed, partisan, former intelligence officials with no reason to know and no reason to speak out, who went to the trouble of signing a press release that they could not know the truth of, in an effort to sway voters.
Or
These were partisan former intelligence officials who knew that the laptop was genuine and still lied in an attempt to sway voters.
 
They said that part too, because they were concerned this was a repeat of 2016 with Russia trying to help Trump. Its really a moot point because you people were shrieking about it non stop. No one gives two ****s about Hunters laptop outside of people already voting for Trump. It was hardly a secret Hunter Biden was a crackhead and he wasnt the one running for office.

They literally admitted to being uninformed. And as private citizens they were and are free to say whatever they want. They could have written a letter saying Trump was a space alien from Uranus if they wanted to. And after looking up the list of 51 people none of them worked for the FBI that I see.
 
Still doesnt explain how former CIA officials were supposed to know intimate details of an FBI investigation years after working for the government.
 
No one would have expected them to, until they told everyone to disregard it as Russian disinformation.

You are mischaracterizing what they said. Beyond that it was relentlessly covered by rightwing media so its not like we suddenly learned of the laptop AFTER the election. And nothing on the laptop proved to be damaging to Joe Biden. Yeah it had an email from Hunter suggesting a business deal with Joe. It also contained an email from Hunter saying Joe empathically turned it down. Beyond that its just Hunter Biden smoking crack and screwing around with hookers. Big whoop.

You can think that all you want. They were private citizens. They can weigh in on whatever they want. Honestly if they hadnt the whole laptop thing would be a dead issue for you people at this point. It really just amplified the laptop story.
 
Because it was my opinion before ever hearing their opinion. You cant tell me the story of how the laptop came into the possession of the repairman didnt sound shady as ****.
