Let's Talk About Media

trump donated to them.

and was talking about fake accusations on, you guessed it, twitter. almost like he knew this was coming and was hoping the fake story created by people who supposedly hate "fake news" would break. but he wouldn't have time for that, right? being that he's president and all?

Tenuous, at best. Even in this construct (which is saying a lot).

it's telling that you interpret it that way.

it's mostly just funny that these people helped prove themselves wrong.

stories like this are well-sourced and the person telling the story well-vetted. which is why your fear of one accusation bringing someone down is dumb. speaking of telling, it's telling that you're more worried about that than the masses of women who were and are actually being harassed and abused. not at all surprising, but definitely telling.

There are countless examples in this thread about media lying and manipulating news to fit a certain narrative.

Now we are tripping all over ourselves to congratulate the media for upholding minimum basic journalistic standards.

VIDEO: In January, Pence scoffs at question about whether anyone in Trump campaign dealt with Russians. "Of course not." Blames questions in part on media bias.

hmm - now where have I heard this before

A perfect example of what this thread is when a republican talks about "the media"

Want an example of leftist bias in the media? LoOK at how joy reids homophobic blog posts and subsequent apology is being covered

In the other thread you twice quoted tweets from a guy who was pushing a conspiracy theory about a child sex ring operating from the basement of a pizza parlor that didn't have a basement. Forgive me if I think your media criticism resonates pretty poorly.

i'm shocked that yall didn't cover this one in this abortion of a thread

For the life of me I don’t see why people care about the bias of Fox News and MSNBC. Audiences on both sides have long since realized they are watching cheerleaders for their sides.

It’s like criticizing a Braves fan on Chop Country for being a Pozzy because they project Acuna to have 8 WAR rookie season.

I do think the gold standard news reporting entities like NYT, WaPo, ABC, etc. deserve to be held to a higher standard. In the same way I expect Fangraphs to be subjective in its coverage of each team, I expect those outlets to be subjective.

My point here, and I'm curious to see you address it with substance instead of just a "lol," is not that you give credence to those outlets, but that you sort of high-handedly laugh then off whenever anyone mentions them. The implication is that nobody takes them seriously. Obviously, people do. Not everyone has your rigorous standards. So you have pointed criticism for other media outlets, but you dismiss the idea that these hyperpartisan outlets have any influence. In doing so you neglect their well-documented ability to drive mainstream media coverage as well as their place as messaging nodes for a particular political stripe.

Hell, the head of Breitbart had a West Wing office for a few months.

Weaponzied media. Opposition to the will of the American people. I hope people who supported Bernie are as enraged as those of us who support Trump.

it's a shame @daveweigel made a major error like one misleading tweet and not something minor

like repeatedly

lying about the president's birthplace for half a decade

So is it a "major error" or a "misleading tweet"?

Very little discussion of all the purposely false and defamatory stories put out this week by the Fake News Media. They are out of control - correct reporting means nothing to them. Major lies written, then forced to be withdrawn after they are exposed...a stain on America!
...........

Wondering if Weigel was one of those that reported in real time Trump promising to release his taxes .
Or was going to build a wall -- first day

So Trump calls it a "major lie" and your tweet dude affirms the characterization.

What's the issue here, again?

I see a lot of conflating, but no point.
