Let's Talk About Media

I didn’t see anyone happy about dead kids. MTG was a nobody up until a week ago and Alex Jones never threw a party about the shootings.

i'm referencing the additional injury to the parents and survivors due to claims by Jones, MTG and others that the shootings were hoaxes and that some of the children were crisis actors

and then there is the family of Seth Rich...also made to suffer additional trauma from lies peddled about how their son died

Iowa’s Cedar Gazette reported in 1990 that Limbaugh’s “AIDS Update,” a recurring segment in which he made jokes about a disease that had killed more than 100,000 people in the United States the previous decade, started by playing songs such as “Back in the Saddle Again,” “Kiss Him Goodbye,” “I Know I’ll Never Love This Way Again,” and “Looking for Love in All the Wrong Places.”

The “Aids Update” segment was short-lived. According to The New York Times, it ended after a few weeks. Limbaugh would call the segment one of “most regretful things I’ve ever done” because it was “making fun of people who were dying long, painful and excruciating deaths.”

his legacy is truly an awful one...very sad considering he was a gifted and intelligent man

I'm interested to see people's takes on this:

Who cheers upon the deaths of their political adversaries more, conservatives, liberals, or both in equal measures?

Wretched and pathetic people, regardless of ideology.

I never listened to Limbaugh, but anyone celebrating any death needs to take a long look at who they are.

I just wonder how long it will take for the republicans who commented so much on trumps poor behavior will realize that the left hates us regardless of where on the political spectrum we are on. It’s an absolute hate and with that they will justify all types of evil in the future.

We have seen it countless times on this board... the complete despising of posters from one side of the isle.

Multiple posters have wished death on other posters. Multiple posters have wished death on normal citizens. Multiple posters have cheered death of political opponents.

They are all of the same voting patterns, by the way

Republicans are slow to understand the new rules of battle.

Lol

Hahaha, y’all really lost your mind in your cult

Btw: Rush was a vile human piece of ****. He left the world a worse place than he found it. He deserves no praise for anything at all and that he had a following in this country is a black eye for how bad segments of this country is and how far we have to go

Progressivism is a religion and it's followers are currently working themselves up to a jihad.

It’s going to get worse and worse if we follow the path of the Romney’s and McCain’s of the world. Think of it as death by a thousand cuts. If the enemy, and yes progressives are the enemy of a free people, is not met head on now it will be too late.

Our next leader will either be Trump or like KG said anyone else with balls to say no out loud to the progressives garbage ideology.

When anyone’s life is looked over there will be a lot most will like and quite a bit a lot will hate. We are imperfect creations and will always be imperfect.

But let’s be honest here. If Rish led the same exact life but was a progressive the same people cheering would be crying.

It has nothing to do with their life’s accomplishments. It’s a simple binary decision. Do they agree with my political ideology? No? They are awful and deserved to die!

Let drop the charade and pretend it has to do with anything other than that.

This is true. If Rush had made liberal talk radio popular and had done a death update of a disease affecting fundamentalist Christians, the same people laughing about his death now would be mourning the great progressive titan.

I for one will not condemn Rush for the political positions he took on the air. What I will criticize about his legacy is his contribution towards radicalizing American politics. It doesn't matter what side of the spectrum you're on, if you're whipping that side up into a froth it's bad for American politics. It turns everything into a moral issue. Any compromise is total defeat. It breeds distrust and actual outright hatred of those who disagree with you.

Radicalizing one side also has an effect on the other side. Like it or not the left is more radical today because of Rush than it would have been otherwise. Movement one side towards the extremes is generally met with an equal movement of the other side in the opposite direction. By pushing the right farther right, it moved the left farther left.

That's what I don't like about Rush's legacy. However, that's no reason to celebrate his death. Disagreement doesn't make him less human.
