Let's talk roster

It is very possible the Braves will have to platoon MH2 with a RHH CFer towards the end of the season and into the playoffs, so whoever that guy is should be kept around or acquired.

Offense seems to be performing as expected. Including the disaster in LF, the 800+ OPS middle infielder, and 900+ OPS CF.

We know very well that won't happen. lol not that it shouldn't but Snit won't do it.

It shouldn't. We don't have a guy who can hit RH and play the OF, who is better than left handed hitting MH2.. again, I am going with the kid who is your future to develop versus a platoon with some replacement level player with a platoon adv.

Just came in here for the rooster chat.

I like them fried, or smoked. White meat fried, dark meat smoked.

I think either Pillar or Hilliard could go in this scenario. Hilliard at least looks like a decent back-up in CF and although it's a very small sample size, a 59% K-rate doesn't do much for me.

But Hilliard hits absolute piss missles when he does make contact. EV of 98.3 right now.

What little Ive seen of Hilliard I like. But then my recollection of Duvall and his constant flail and fail pops up. Not familiar enough with Hilliard's history to know if he is similar to Duvall. Then there is the fact that AA didnt seem to have desire to bring Duvall back. Just dont know.

It's obviously unrealistic to expect Hilliard to keep hitting .778 on balls in play. Something like .650 or .660 is far more reasonable. You have to check your fanboy biases at the door when conducting analysis, guys.

I don't think Hilliard is in any way a .300 hitter, nor will he maintain a .900+ OPS. But he might be able to drop 25 bombs or so while playing solid defense in LF, which is basically a Duvall, but more useful because he's LH so he isn't useless against 80% of the pitchers in the league.

You left out the speed element that he brings as well. Dude can steal a base or go first to third easily.
