Finished my most enjoyable read of the year so far, A Deadly Education. It's Harry Potter if Hogwarts was The Hunger Games.

After avoiding this book for pretty much all my life, I finally read it and all my assumptions were proven wrong. Great book!

Killers of the Flower Moon was excellent. I imagine Scorsese will do that one justice in what might end up being his final film.

For Halloween I've picked up The King in Yellow by Robert W. Chambers. He was a big influence on HP Lovecraft.

I guess no one has been reading much of anything they care to share. For history buffs, I highly recommend Brenda Wineapple's Keeping the Faith, a history of the Scopes trial held in Dayton, Tennessee, in 1925, where (amongst others) Clarence Darrow and William Jennings Bryan squared off in a case revolving around the prohibition on teaching evolution in Tennessee schools. Great behind-the-scenes look as to how the two sparring legal teams were put together and the discussions within those teams how to present the case. Great descriptions of the principle characters in the event. Wineapple has a great story to tell and she writes beautifully in a manner that is accessible without losing any of the intellectual heft.
