bud norris gets $2.5M on 1-year braves deal

Not really bad price, I suppose. Hopefully he can rebound from a ****eous year and be traded mid-season.

Love this signing. Great value. These are exactly the type of moves we should be making.

I'm fine with this. It worked with Jim Johnson and Jason Grilli (we could have really pulled a legit prospect for him had he not gone down).

my first thought was aw come on you have to be kidding, yet there it is in print......... I just do not understand, what the hell are they doing?

why take up a spot in the rotation away from the young guys? just seems a waste of money and time.

Because it's not always a good thing to throw a guy into a spot he's not ready for, and if Norris turns things around, we can flip him for something at the deadline.

Pretty easy to see the logic here.

I am pretty sure we have enough guys ready we didn't need to add a pitcher who can't pitch. sure there is a learning curve, but that learning doesn't start till the ML, and all this does is delay that time for one of several options. I mean, Miller, Teheran, Folty, Banuelos, Wisler, Perez, Weber, Sims. That is 8 right there, tell me which one Morris is better than? I am tired of this who can we flip mentality, time to see an actual team being built, not hoping on a lost cause.

But we can flip him!!111!!

It's a testament to how brainwashed the average Braves fan has become if people are legitimately applauding this type of acquisition.

First, what do you mean better than? That's not the point. We don't really care about winning games this year. Sims is likely not ready yet, Folty and Banuelos still might not be fully ready yet, and Perez and Weber aren't real prospects. Plus, Miller and/or Teheran may not be in the rotation at the beginning of the year.

And Norris could always go back to the pen. Who knows. But who cares. We weren't going to use the $2.5 million on anything meaningful, so why not?

Please explain the downside to me.

I mean, you said it in so many words yourself ... who cares?

Our team sucks. And signing Bud Norris doesn't make anything better. It just adds insult to injury. Salt to the wound.

Do you follow?
