Looking Ahead - The 2020 Offseason Thread

Gomez:

I heard that the possible trade of Jose Ramirez to the Braves, would involve the following players:

- RHP Joel De La Cruz
- C Shea Langeliers
- 3B Austin Riley
- OF Drew Waters

Should leave at least $10-12M in budget if #Braves go to $140M, which I think is the approximate budget. That could leave enough to sign a Melancon, or they could spread it between, say, Greene and Duvall, or players of their ilk.

Man that would be amazing, but not sure if the Indians really wanna go all in on a rebuild or not. They already have the 3rd lowest payroll in baseball I believe.

I don’t know why... but I have this looming feeling Waters will be a stud. Nothing to back it up... just a feeling lol. But that is really hard to decline for 3 years of JRam

Agree with y’all. If that deal is possible it should already be done. That offense would be flat out nasty. Duvall, Greene, and JRam could be possible.

I would still get a LH outfielder instead of Duvall. Puig maybe to platoon with Pache. But JRam would give you 4 MVP caliber hitters in the lineup with ozzie as a sleeper 5th.

Ozuna was a candidate in a 60-game season but i feel we should really temper our expectations of him. he’s never really been MVP-caliber before.

I would be shocked if it were Joel De La Cruz seeing that he hasn't pitched since winter ball in 2017-2018. I think they mean Jasseel De La Cruz.

Oh and to all you fools who wer all panicky and worried AA was too safe. See, he knows what he is doing.

You don't have to be a fool to think that AA may have left some meat on the bone. He has been cautiously patient and that's good.....and unnerving at the same time. I didn't imagine him getting Ozuna for that price as well as years. I still think a couple of the pitchers are log jam AAAA fodder and the time is probably right to ease that situation in the right deal.

Now get JRam and let's play ball!

He got the salary at 12 million this year for a reason. Puig could be gotten pretty cheap I’d think at a couple of million. He probably had to wait and see what Ozuna was gonna cost to see what his budget was gonna look like before doing anything else.

Agreed. But we don’t really know so I tossed him in. I am fine with lumping him with Ozzie as perineal all star with potential to be more.
