Looking towards 2025

I would assume we are moving on? If we were going to bring him back, surely would have already had a new contract worked out already.

Carson Kelly would be my preferred candidate to replace TDA, if we don't plan on Baldwin starting the year in the majors.

I’m gonna say Baldwin starts with Murphy and we just saved another 8 million.

I think that is the most likely path. A FA catcher like Kelly would cost roughly 3.5 million. And is saving 5 million really worth the likely downgrade from TDA to someone like Kelly? I don't think so. So that means we're probably going dirt cheap with back-up catcher.

Braves declined d'Arnaud's $8 million option, per Passan.

We just cant pay 23 million a year for the production we were getting from Catcher. I expect Tromp to be the backup on the opening day roster and Baldwin to get a shot after a month or two at AAA for "seasoning". I like d'Arnaud but having that natural platoon should help the lineup. This also really makes me think they are crunching the numbers for something.

AA is definitely stacking money up. I don’t think it’s Soto bc you could get 2 really good players for just what he will cost

A lot of money available and not a lot of spots to fill. Certainly makes you wonder what AA has up his sleeve. I am cautiously optimistic that will be involved in the bidding war for Soto.
