Looking towards 2025

I feel it guys. This is the week AA makes commitment. Going to be a 3 year deal for big bucks.

This is the week he gets the 16 pro max from Att with a three year contract with the family plan.

Man idk, I just saw Taylor swifts bf switched to t mobile

Then again he looks like a big t mobile guy

BDLC is a fine buy low option but AA better have someone better than him in line for the outfield.

Tucker would have been awesome, but I don't think AA had the assets to compete with what the Cubs gave up for him.

So now Bellinger makes sense if AA can get the Cubs to keep enough cash that he's more palatable than similar guys like Santander/Teoscar/Profar. The cOF options are very uninspiring when Bellinger feels like the best one.

I wonder if we could get Heston Kjerstad from the O’s. Cowser and Tyler O’Neil seem to have the corner OF locked up.

I’m not sure what it would cost in young pitching going back, and he’s another power bat with a high K rate, but he could be a good get.

I feel like Bellinger on a paid down contract is the best option, and the next best option is Profar on a 2-3 year deal. Anyone who gives Teoscar or Santander 4-5 years deserves the disaster they will become.

The remaining OF options are pretty crap.

Now that the Cubs have Tucker I wonder if they are more inclined to trade Bellinger or keep him to compete.

Like the SP we need to add, we don’t need a superstar in LF. We just need a decent option. Bellinger for the modest cost would be a good get.

Byron Buxton is my top target if I am AA, and I try to get Minny to eat some of the contract. Should be able to get him for practically nothing.

I think Santander is going to be one of those guys who has to settle for a "prove it" deal or maybe a two-year mid-AAV contract.

The Cubs are loaded in the OF abd just added Tucker. On top of Tucker, Crow-Armstrong, Happ and Suzuki they have about 4 good OF prospects in the high minors last year. They don't have a roster spot for Bellinger anymore.

I think we should try to get Bellinger and Suzuki. Would cost a lot in salary this year but no long term risk.

Series question. How much, if at all, would it help our contention window to stay open longer if we dipped under the luxury tax threshold this year?

If the thought process is that this year is already doomed because Acuna and strider are both guaranteed to miss a significant portion of it, then saving money to spend in 2026+ logically extends the window bit. How much is open for debate, but more money undoubtedly makes winning easier in the future.

Like, what if dipping under the tax this year allows them to sign tucker next year? That would undoubtedly extend the window.

The fans won’t give him any slack of course but if AA does have that in mind then it makes a ton of sense. It would give the minors another year to grow. He would have a lot of money at the deadline to take on money if we are in it then. But this team as constructed is still a top 5 team.

I'm guessing the Braves are looking to spend right around 40 million in tax on upgrades this offseason. We're currently 24 under the tax. So that's an extra 16 million. We want to compete but our team will be pretty high variance. If things aren't going well Iglesias Ozuna Johnson and Bummer could all be moved at the deadline to get us back under. And if we're doing well we won't mind spending the money.

The logic is there, but I'd be pretty shocked if it were to happen. It could potentially extend the window, or it could waste a year of the current one.
