Lopez to the Bullpen

Makes sense. Holmes would likely be more of a weapon out of the pen, but he’s also thus more of a weapon as a starter, as long as he’s properly managed.

I feel like he’s likely headed to the bullpen when SS2 and Waldrep are ready to return. If the SP can hold up Holmes and Lopez could provide a major boost to the pen.

We need a shutdown reliever who can go more than 1 inning far more than we need a mediocre SP. If Lopez can get back to being a good high leverage reliever I think we may a damn good playoff team. We would probably be able to move Holmes to the pen for the playoffs. Maybe even Strider too if enough other starters are healthy.

Yeah, if Lopez can get back to even a resemblance of who he was, then it's the best move. Hell, if he can ramp it up to 96-98, he'll be great in short spurts. I doubt he's there long, as the team clearly views him as a starter, but this bullpen could be insanely good.

Needed to happen. I just don't think his mechanics right now are in tune enough from start to start to keep him in the rotation. He's sitting 95-96 one week and then sitting 93-94 the next week. Same thing was happening in ST. And at 93-94 he's getting rocked. Maybe getting more frequent work can help him work through it.
