MARKAKIS BACK

This is a good thing if he's used correctly. Markakis essentially replaces Matt Adams. Instead of using Ozuna in left and Adams as the DH against right handers, you use Markakis in left and leave Ozuna as the full time DH.

Not sure why you'd look to do that just yet - we appear to have stumbled onto one of Adams' famous hot streaks. No reason to turn him into a PH until he goes cold.

I thought opt out decisions were not reversable

"Opt-outs" aren't - they're for high-risk players who choose not to play for health reasons and still get to draw their salaries.

Markakis wasn't in that category - he wasn't getting paid. If Duvall decides to go home because of his condition (diabetes), he can't choose to come back until 2021.

I’m excited he’s back. He’s a nice bench bat, spot starter to have. Since we’re not getting Puig, it’ll be nice to have him on the team. I’m thinking either Culberson or Hech are gone when Neck is ready to fully return.

He's going to be platooned. Riley/Neck platoon with Camargo at 3rd is the correct answer.

This move helps absolutely nothing. Adding a subpar defensive slap hitter will cut our Ks down maybe 2 a game...maybe...Unless he can pitch again and fill the 3,4,5 voids...don’t like it. Don’t wanna hear that veteran bullsh*t either...This team has plenty of players that aren’t rookies anymore.

I don't think it matters that much. But Markakis in left should be a lot better than Markakis in right with his noodle arm.

They’re both slow with bad arms.

But much more concerning is Fearless Leader’s grave suggestion that Kakes may end up playing a lot of RF ...

Yes but literally no one believes that he’ll be used in a way that maximizes his value.

Maybe we are working a trade for a starter? Ender has looked great out of the gate.

Hechavarría actually serves a purpose on the roster, so I’m not sure why he’d be gone.

If this does happen it will be great for this season, but with the pitching so bad it may make sense to give a Riley a full time job to see if he can continue to improve.

No way Hechavarria gets turned loose - might be the best defensive SS we have.

Charlie serves no purpose on this roster when Nick's ready - Snitker still has one of his favorites/clutch veteran leaders, but Markakis can actually hit. I would imagine AA has already sat down with Snit to tell him that if he feels that strongly about Charlie, HE has to tell Nick to go back to the house.

Who knows how long the season will last but the Braves intend to win.

Proven beyond the shadow of a doubt when Contreras/A-Jax were demoted the second d'Arnaud/Flow were cleared - even though Contreras had been swinging a hot bat and A-Jax was coming off of a 2 hit night.

Those player situations are not similar at all.

I do agree that Riley shouldn’t be hitting against tough righties but he needs to see some of them. A strict platoon would be a mistake.

What is Nick’s timeline to ATL? Are they doing extended summer camp since the minors aren’t playing?

Things may sort themselves out by the time he’s ready.

I'm pretty sure the reserve guys are doing things like simulated games to stay ready if they are needed.
